We’ve been working hard in the off-season and have another contest for all of our members. In case you missed the announcement, earlier in the week we unveiled our Swim with the Sharks Contest. Today, we’re bringing another weekly contest to test your knowledge of football. Our Pick ‘Em Contest displays all the scheduled games for the week along with the point spread. All you need to do is pick the winner. See how well you stack up against Tony and Vinnie. And guess what! You won’t be playing with Geoffrey dollars if you win the contest either. Once again, Stars will be sponsoring this contest and giving $500 to the winner to spend at Stars Collect. Again, not bad for a free site! Please take a minute to visit the sponsor of this contest – Stars; it wouldn’t be possible without them.
The rules are pretty simple. If you pick the favorite, that team must win by more than the point spread. If you pick the underdog, you will win that game if they win outright or if they lose by fewer points than the point spread. There may be instances when a ‘line’ (point spread) is not available. In those cases, the point spread will show as 0. In the case of a tie – everyone loses. Confused? It’s pretty simple but perhaps an example will help.
Favorite Point Spread Underdog
New England Patriots 3 Pittsburgh Steelers
If you pick New England and they win 21-17 they have covered the 3 point spread. Pittsburgh is getting 3 points and if you add those points to Pittsburgh’s score it would be 21-20. If you picked Pittsburgh, you would lose. And honestly, why would you pick the Steelers? If the point spread were 4 points and the score was the same – everyone would lose. I hope this helps.
Each week everyone’s record will be tallied and published on the site. At the end of the year, the member (Shark Staff excluded!) with the most number of wins will be declared the winner. Don’t be fooled by the winning percentage. Someone could have a higher winning percentage and not win (i.e. didn’t play every week but did really well in the weeks they did). The winner will be the member with the most wins. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the most wins for any given week. If a tie still exists, the next highest win total for any given week will determine the winner. This will continue until a winner is decided. If there is still a tie the contest winnings will be divided as equally as possible among the remaining winners.
Picks must be made one hour before kickoff of the first game of the week. Pay attention to the early games (Thursday night and Saturday games, including THIS week)! You will be locked out of the contest for that week if you don’t submit your picks in time. So, make a visit to FantasySharks.com a part of your daily routine and save yourself the aggravation.
Good luck and enjoy the contest!
