PICK ‘EM and SURVIVOR: Week 14

Top 5 Pick ‘Em

Season Record: 35-27-3

Los Angeles Chargers -6 (vs. Washington) – After an 0-4 start, the Chargers are tied atop the AFC West and are catching the Redskins on their way down. The loss of Chris Thompson is just one of many injuries that have knocked the Redskins off track.

Kansas City -4 (vs. Oakland) – While the Chiefs have lost six of their seven games, they have covered all spreads except for one against division opponents dating back to the start of 2016. The Raiders have the worst ranked defense in the entire league, and the Chiefs will be able to take care of business as long as the offense plays half as well as it did last week. Tyreek Hill should have a field day against the Raiders secondary, and Kareem Hunt should run circles around the Raiders defense as long as they give him the ball.

Arizona +3 (vs. Tennessee) – Blaine Gabbert has been playing better than his recent statistics show. The Titans defense is a nice reprieve after facing the Rams and Jaguars the previous two weeks. The Cardinals defense has played better than expected as well, ranking right behind the Steelers and Rams.

Minnesota -3 (@ Carolina) – The second coming (or third, really) of Case Keenum has been fun to watch, as he is boasting a 3:1 touchdown to interception ratio and the 5th best completion percentage in the league. But the real story of this matchup is Cam Newtown versus the Vikings defense. The Panthers find themselves at eight wins, with Newton not even playing close to his full potential. The bottom line is that Newton has struggled against top defenses this year and the Vikings rank in the Top 10 at number eight. The Vikings also own the NFC South as they have covered the last eight spreads against NFC South opponents.

New York Jets E (@ Denver) – Entering Week 14, the Broncos now have the worst offense in the league. They rank 32nd behind the Brown, Colts, Bears and Dolphins. Let that sink in.

  Top Survivor Pick

Los Angeles Chargers (vs. Washington) – See above. The reeling Redskins travel to the west coast for this game.

 Survivor Avoid

Denver (vs. New York Jets) – 10% of picks this week selected the Broncos and they aren’t even favored.

Cam Newton, if healthy (and I think he is), can be spectacular in a Josh McDaniel’s offense. Just think Tim Tebow on the Broncos times 100. The Patriots have a big and tall wide receiver in N’Keal Harry and a great pass-catching running back in James White. Newton and the Patriots are going to be fine.
