PICK ‘EM and SURVIVOR: Week 8

Top 5 Pick ‘Em

Season Record: 17-17-1

Pittsburgh -3 (@ Detroit) –  Have the Steelers figured it out? That seems to be the case – give Le’Veon Bell the ball. The Steelers have beaten the Lions in eight of their last nine meetings and the Lions will be without top wide receiver Golden Tate this Sunday.

Chicago +9 (@ New Orleans) –  The Bears defense hasn’t given up a touchdown in nine quarters, but they will certainly be tested this weekend. A key differentiation on Sunday is the Bears running attack with Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. While the Saints defense as a whole has been receiving a lot of praise as of late, they still rank 29th against the run.

Buffalo -2.5 (vs. Oakland) –  Are the Raiders for real or was last Thursday’s offensive performance an anomaly? To be determined, but the Bills have a much stronger defense than the Chiefs and are undefeated at home. The Raiders don’t travel well either, as they’ve only won four of their last 23 games on the east coast.

Philadelphia -13 (vs. San Francisco) – C.J. Beathard is not the answer in San Francisco. The Eagles have solidified themselves as the best team in the league through seven weeks and the 49ers 28th ranked defense won’t slow them down.

Dallas -2 (@ Washington) –  In a competitive NFC East, this could be a loser leaves town match. Falling below .500 and to third in the division will make it extremely difficult to grab a wild-card spot. It should not be a surprise that the Cowboys have the best rushing offense in the league which is led by Ezekiel Elliott and their powerful offensive line, and they’ll lean on it this weekend to control the game and take the ball out of Kirk Cousin’s hands.

Top Survivor Picks

Philadelphia (vs. San Francisco) –  See above. This is one of the last chances to use the Eagles as well.

Survivor Avoids

Cincinnati (vs. Indianapolis) –  Avoid picking bad teams if possible. Yes, the Colts are worse, but the Bengals are below average on both sides of the ball. The Bengals are the 3rd most popular pick with 18% of selections this week.
