Season Projections
Although Clay didn't build on his strong season-ending performance from 2016, the Buffalo Bills' second-most targeted receiver last season manufactured decent enough production in the NFL's second-worst passing attack to finish first or second on the team in catches, receiving yards and touchdown grabs. Among tight ends, Clay ranked 14th in catches, 13th in receiving yards and 14th in targets (74) to clock out of 2017 as the fantasy TE19/non-PPR and as the fantasy TE18/PPR scoring. Amassing mediocre-but-consistent production with an occasional blowup game despite playing in run-heavy schemes during his three seasons in Buffalo, Clay has missed at least two games per season and has been a mainstay on the weekly injury reports usually due to nagging knee issues. A supposedly better conditioned 29-year-old Clay should be better utilized this season in new offensive boss Brian Daboll's scheme as a likely safety valve for presumed rookie starter Josh Allen. Clay, despite his shortcomings in the scoring department, is a safe-but-not-spectacular reserve fantasy option. He still has a high place in the Bills' target pecking order with only Kelvin Benjamin and LeSean McCoy as legit competition. Unfortunately, McCoy, who topped Buffalo in catches last season, steals dump-off passes, which caps Clay's fantasy ceiling.

Receiving: 8 Receptions, 73 Yards, 0 TD.
