Season Projections
Mariota played through nagging hamstring, knee, ankle and non-throwing shoulder injuries for a good chunk of the 2017 season, which is a big reason why his development slammed hard into reverse. Operating in an offense that also regressed, he was just one of two full-time starting quarterbacks to throw more interceptions (career high) than touchdown passes (career low). Mariota also ranked 21st in attempts (his third straight finish outside the top 20 in that category) and 20th in passing yards. Thanks to some overall solid rushing production - the mobile Tennessee Titans signal caller finished second (tie) at the position in rushing scores and eighth in rushing yards - Mariota closed out a disappointing third year as the fantasy QB17. The conservative "Exotic Smashmouth" rushing attack that smothered Mariota's athleticism for the last two years is gone, and new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, who handled game planning for the Los Angeles Rams offense (no play calling) and coached up Jared Goff last season, will operate an aggressive quarterback friendly West Coast-style scheme that relies heavily on using play-action passing to make big plays, similar to what Los Angeles uses. Tennessee has adequate playmakers - Rishard Matthews (undisclosed injury), Corey Davis, Delanie Walker, Dion Lewis and Derrick Henry - to make the system work. LaFleur, however, is determined to keep Mariota healthier this season, so a big uptick in his carries seems unlikely. A now-healthy Mariota at the controls of a more aggressive aerial attack clearly has bounce-back potential, but six missed games in three years makes him an injury risk.

Passing: 150 Yards, 0 TD, 1 INT.
Rushing: 19 Yards, 0 TD.
