Season Projections
With the Chargers utilizing a more balanced attack than usual this past season, Rivers amassed his lowest attempt and completion numbers in the last five years, but he certainly wasn't a fantasy bust. Rivers still finished eighth in the league in passing yards and sixth (tie) in touchdown passes. Displaying awesome consistency, the immobile pocket passer averaged a solid 269.2 passing yards per game and tossed at least two scoring strikes in 13 of 16 contests on the way to closing out the regular season as the fantasy QB13. Rivers has thrown for at least 4,300 yards five times in the last six seasons and has tossed at least 30 touchdown passes four times in the same time frame. Turning 38 in early December and riding an iron man streak of 219 consecutive starts (the NFL's longest active streak), Rivers showed no obvious signs of physical decline this past season. High-volume passing performances, however, will remain rare for him going forward. The Chargers have a deep stable of every-down running backs - Melvin Gordon, Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson - and an improving young defense that keeps game script positive for rushing, so Los Angeles will continue to utilize a balanced attack. When the Chargers need Rivers to step up, he can still crank out big fantasy outings with help from a solid receiver corps that includes Keenan Allen, rising start Mike Williams and Hunter Henry. Don't forget - Gordon, Ekeler and Jackson are great receivers out of the backfield, too. While Rivers lacks high-scoring upside, he offers nice reliability.

Passing: 4208 Yards, 29 TD, 15 INT.
Rushing: 17 Yards, 0 TD.
