Season Projections
Despite compiling the NFL's eighth-worst completion percentage and the fifth-worst yards per attempt (6.5), Flacco was on pace to throw for 4,382 yards and 21 touchdowns, and finish as the fantasy QB16 before the Ravens benched him at the halfway point of the 2018 season for mega-talented Lamar Jackson. The 34-year-old Flacco is clearly a stopgap starter for the Broncos until rookie second-rounder Drew Lock is ready to make his debut, which probably will happen by December. While Flacco still has a strong arm, he compiled the fourth-worst completion rate (26.2 percent) on balls thrown 20-plus yards. In addition, the immobile triggerman - Flacco does virtually nothing as a runner - has passed for fewer than 3,200 yards and 20 scores in three of his last four seasons. First-time Denver offensive boss Rich Scangarello plans to utilize a run-heavy attack led by Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. Flacco's best and most experienced wideout, Emmanuel Sanders (Achilles' tendon), isn't a lock to start the season healthy. Most of the Broncos' other receivers, including Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton, Tim Patrick and rookie Noah Fant, head into 2019 with one or fewer seasons of playing experience. Durability worries for Flacco? Yes. He has battled back and hip ailments during the past two years. Flacco lacks job security and upside.
