Fantasy Analysis
Week 3 Projections
Ryan is averaging 312 passing yards and 2.5 touchdown strikes per contest, but he's also averaging 2.5 interceptions per game. Last season, the Indianapolis Colts defense finished only 16th in passing yards allowed, but they also gave up the fourth-fewest touchdown passes. Indianapolis usually plays well at home, but don't let that stop you from starting Ryan. Atlanta's struggling running back tandem of Devonta Freeman and Ito Smith has been held under 52 scoreless rushing yards two weeks in a row. Ryan, currently ranked third (tie) in the NFL in attempts, seventh in passing yards and second (tie) in touchdown passes, is carrying the Atlanta offense right now.
Passing: 285 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT.
Rushing: 10 Yards, 0 TD.

Season Projections
The Falcons usually lived and died with Ryan's arm last season because their offense couldn't run the football consistently and their injury-depleted defense couldn't stop anybody. Thanks to high-volume throwing, Matty Ice finished third in the NFL in passing yards and third in touchdown strikes with numbers that virtually mirrored his career-best MVP stats from 2016. Ryan also ranked fourth in completions and third in attempts. A classic pocket passer, Ryan also tallied a fluky career-high three rushing touchdowns, which helped him finish as the fantasy QB2. The 34-year-old triggerman has thrown for at least 4,500 yards and 30 touchdowns in five of his last six campaigns. Ryan's top playmakers - Julio Jones, rising star Calvin Ridley, Mohamed Sanu and Austin Hooper - all return healthy for 2019. Historically, Ryan has struggled during his first season in a new scheme, but Dirk Koetter directed Atlanta's offense from 2012 through 2014, which is why the the team expects instant success from a Ryan/Koetter reunion. Ryan averaged 4,643-29-15 per season under Koetter, but a dip in Matty Ice's production seems likely. The Falcons are determined to squeeze better production out of their ground game with a healthy Devonta Freeman back in the fold and better play from a healthier defense, which, in theory, means less throwing by Ryan. He's still a solid starting option. If the rushing attack and/or defense struggle again, the team will need more throwing from Ryan to remain competitive. By the way, the uncommonly durable signal caller is riding a streak of 156 consecutive starts.

Passing: 4152 Yards, 32 TD, 15 INT.
Rushing: 133 Yards, 2 TD.
