Fantasy Analysis
Week 12 Projections
During his team's loss to the New Orleans Saints last week, Ryan cobbled together his worst fantasy outing of the season (232 passing yards and no touchdown strikes against two picks). He was forced to operate without banged-up security blanket Julio Jones (hamstring) for close to three quarters against a swarming Saints defense that sacked him eight times. Ryan's home matchup versus a Las Vegas Raiders defense that has surrendered the seventh-most passing yards and the ninth-most quarterback fantasy points is a plus one. Ryan, however, has struggled when Jones has been out of the lineup. In the three early-season games that Jones was either absent or limited, Ryan finished as the fantasy QB23 or worse in all three. If Jones is a no-go, lower your expectations for Ryan.
Passing: 325 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT.
Rushing: 7 Yards, 0 TD.

Season Projections
For the second season in a row, the Falcons lived and died with Ryan's arm because of an inept bottom-five rushing attack and a still leaky bottom-six defense that did improve a bit toward the end of 2019. Despite topping the NFL in completions, Ryan slipped from fantasy QB2 to fantasy QB7 because he passed for nine fewer touchdowns (1.7 per contest) and 450 fewer yards (297.7 per game). Ryan's top-two targets, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, both return healthy. Austin Hooper (Browns), Atlanta's third-leading receiver from 2019, is gone, but the team has breakout hopes for Hayden Hurst even though he has never caught more than 30 passes in a season. Hooper and Hurst have similar skill sets, but Hurst is faster and more of a big-play threat. Todd Gurley, replacing Devonta Freeman, is a great receiver out of the backfield, but can he stay healthy? Ryan was sacked a league-high (tie) 48 times last season but will operate Dirk Koetter's pass-heavy offense again behind a reworked line that's expected to feature five first-round draft picks. If the ground game and/or defense struggle again, the 35-year-old Ryan has high-volume passing upside, but he'll do next to nothing as a runner as usual. A model of consistency, Ryan has finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in eight of the past 10 seasons. As Matty Ice heads into his 13th campaign, he has missed only three regular-season games.

Passing: 1811 Yards, 12 TD, 5 INT.
Rushing: 48 Yards, 1 TD.
