Week 14 Projections |
Trubisky had himself a nice turkey day with 338 yards and 3 TD's. This was his best performance of the year, but let's just settle down and not get too excited. He faces Dallas at home on a short week and is not a recommended play. It was nice to see Mitch play better, but his fantasy days are numbered in 2019. |
Passing: 214 Yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. |
Rushing: 15 Yards, 0 TD. |
Season Projections |
Trubisky took a big step forward in his development during his second NFL season and just his first one played in head coach Matt Nagy's modern offense. With the Bears leaning run heavy (11th in rushing and tied for sixth in team carries), Trubisky improved from fantasy QB28 to fantasy QB15. Already a dangerous scrambler, the athletic Trubisky finished sixth among quarterbacks in carries and fifth in rushing yards, which provided an occasional boost to his fantasy scoring. The Chicago triggerman made some solid strides with his arm in a spread-the-wealth passing attack, improving to 19th in the league completions, 19th in attempts, 20th in passing yards and 15th in touchdown passes. Trubisky's completion rate also jumped from 59.4 to 66.6 percent, and his touchdown rate skyrocketed from 2.1 to 5.5 percent. Keep in mind that Trubisky is still learning the ropes as a passer. His growing pains included shaky deep-ball accuracy and occasional turnovers at critical times. A more seasoned and confident Trubisky should continue to elevate his game with help from a solid supporting cast that includes lead wideout Allen Robinson (Trubisky flashed better chemistry with A-Rob late in the year), Taylor Gabriel, the promising Anthony Miller and Trey Burton. Top returning receiver Tarik Cohen is a very dangerous target out of the backfield, too, and the Bears are high on rookie third-rounder David Montgomery's receiving chops. Chicago won't abandon its run-heavy mindset, but another uptick in Trubisky's passing production looks like a safe bet. |
