Season Projections
A new coaching staff and a new playbook couldn't rescue Mariota from regressing for the second straight season. Nagging injuries, including a bum throwing elbow that bothered him for most of 2018, were a huge problem again, and Mariota sorely missed safety blanket Delanie Walker (ankle surgery). A sputtering Titans offense reverted to an attack that was far more run heavy than expected (seventh in rushing and ninth in team carries). Mariota set new career highs in carries and rushing yards but compiled new career lows in almost all the other major statistical categories, including attempts (28th in the NFL), passing yards (26th) and touchdown passes (tied for 30th) as the fantasy QB26. Averaging just 214.4 passing yards and 1.1 touchdown passes per contest in 56 career games played, a now-healthy Mariota is heading into a make-or-break fifth season but things don't look promising for him. First-time offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is Mariota's fourth different play caller in the last five seasons. Tennessee upgraded his receiver corps, adding rookie second-rounder A.J. Brown and Adam Humphries to a shallow group led by Corey Davis and Dion Lewis (Walker is expected back healthy, too), but the team is expected to utilize a run-heavy attack led by Derrick Henry once again. Given Mariota's durability woes, he has probably reached his statistical ceiling as a runner. The brittle Mariota also has Ryan Tannehill looking over his shoulder. Consider Mariota a dicey low-upside backup.

Passing: 308 Yards, 1 TD, 2 INT.
Rushing: 23 Yards, 0 TD.
