Season Projections
The athletically gifted size-speed specimen didn't manufacture the top-shelf sophomore breakout that some had expected, but Njoku elevated his game last season. Finishing as the fantasy TE8/non-PPR and as the fantasy TE9/PPR, the Browns' second-leading receiver also ranked seventh (tie) among tight ends in targets, eighth in both catches and receiving yards, and tied for ninth in touchdown grabs. Njoku also improved his catch rate from 53.3 to 63.6 percent but still had occasional lapses in concentration. While he should continue to improve as an NFL tight end in what projects as a powerhouse Baker Mayfield-led Cleveland offense, Njoku looks like a regression candidate as a fantasy tight end. Target monster Odell Beckham and slot guy Jarvis Landry will command a huge share of the looks, and promising speedster Antonio Callaway, targeted only nine fewer times than Njoku in 2018, is also in the mix as the other starting outside wideout. Njoku continues to struggle with his blocking and likely will be pulled sometimes in red-zone situations for blocking specialist Demetrius Harris. While Njoku won't be a difference maker in fantasy lineups, he looks like a very serviceable option.
