Season Projections
Looking far more comfortable in the Saints offense after Drew Brees returned from thumb surgery at midseason, Cook, the fourth-most productive fantasy tight end from Week 8 through Week 17, closed out 2019 as the fantasy TE6/non-PPR and as the fantasy TE7/PPR. He ranked second at the position with a career-high nine touchdown catches (seven were scored in his final seven games), and Cook, frequently operating as an unusually effective downfield weapon, compiled a career high 16.4 yards per catch - the most by a tight end in the last 20 seasons. Averaging a soft 4.6 targets per contest, however, Cook also ranked just 14th at the position in receptions but a respectable eighth in receiving yards. The 33-year-old Cook, expected to continue operating in a deep-threat role, showed no signs of physical decline in 2019, but the size-speed specimen could start to fade. The bulk of the New Orleans passing attack should continue to flow through Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara (the short passes to Thomas and Kamara often set up deep shots to Cook). The Saints also added the still capable Emmanuel Sanders, so an uptick in Cook's targets (4.8 per game with Brees under center) seems very unlikely. Manufacturing nine scoring grabs from 43 receptions once again looks like a long shot, too, but Cook will still rack up a nice number of touchdowns as long as Brees is under center.

Receiving: 34 Receptions, 508 Yards, 6 TD.
