Fantasy Analysis
Season Projections
Following 16 seasons with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, Rivers is now the guy under center for the Colts. Some NFL experts insist that Rivers' arm looked dead last season. While his deep ball did come with a little more flutter and inaccuracy than usual, Rivers still finished as the fantasy QB15. He placed fourth in passing yards (his seventh straight season with at least 4,200 yards), seventh in attempts and third in completions, but Rivers tossed his fewest scoring passes since 2007 after throwing at least 28 in six straight campaigns and tied his career high in picks. As Rivers heads into his age-38/39 campaign, he's walking what looks like a good fantasy situation with the Colts. Rivers is reunited with Indianapolis head coach Frank Reich, who coached quarterbacks and directed the Chargers offense from 2013-15, which were three of Rivers' best seasons statistically. Expect Reich to tweak the passing attack to compensate for Rivers' fading arm. The immobile Rivers, sacked 66 times in the last two years, also gets to operate behind a strong offensive line that allowed a league-low 18 sacks in 2018, which was Andrew Luck's last full season played. Rivers' supporting cast looks solid with big-play guy T.Y. Hilton and safety valve Jack Doyle leading the way. The Colts hope that speedy slot guy Parris Campbell will rebound from an injury-wrecked 2019 rookie season. Rookie Michael Pittman, the 34th overall selection, is a big possession guy who plays a quarterback friendly game and shouldn't have trouble building chemistry with Rivers in a starting role. Replacing Eric Ebron with Trey Burton, however, was a downgrade. Since Indianapolis will prefer to pound the rock with Marlon Mack and rookie second-rounder Jonathan Taylor, don't expect fantasy QB1 numbers from Rivers each week, even though he's clearly an upgrade over Jacoby Brissett.

Passing: 3918 Yards, 21 TD, 18 INT.
Rushing: 110 Yards, 2 TD.
