Season Projections |
As many had predicted, Winston absolutely erupted in Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians' aggressive high-volume aerial attack last season. Winston topped the NFL with a career high in passing yards, becoming just the eighth quarterback in league history to shatter the 5,000-yard barrier. He also ranked second in touchdown strikes and sixth in yards per attempt (8.2) to finish 2019 as the fantasy QB3 behind Lamar Jackson (Ravens) and Dak Prescott (Cowboys), who received scoring boosts from their rushing production. However, Winston, always the gunslinger and sometimes careless with the football, also led the NFL with an obscene 30 interceptions (the most in a single season since 1988) and connected on only 60.7 percent of his passes. After Tampa Bay let Winston walk in free agency, he landed in New Orleans where he'll operate as the No. 2 triggerman and learn from ultra-accurate Drew Brees. If the 41-year-old Brees lands on the injury shelf again (he missed eight games because of thumb surgery last season), Winston, 26, would have weekly top-10 fantasy quarterback upside as the starter in Sean Payton's potent offense, which is led by playmakers Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Jared Cook and Emmanuel Sanders. |
