THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 11

Welcome my fantasy brethren to another edition of The Prognosticator, may it float your boat. Just when the running back position was getting scarce in fantasy, back come Dion Lewis, Thomas Rawls, James Starks, Carlos Hyde, Doug Martin and others like Rashad Jennings. There was even a trickle of Adrian Peterson news this week. Welcome back! We’ve missed all of you.

How to read the table: The table shows how a team will do Passing and Rushing in the upcoming week of the NFL. Red is HOT, Yellow is WARM, White is NORMAL, Light Blue is COLD and Dark Blue is FREEZING COLD. Play players from teams that are Red and Yellow, avoid players from teams that are Light or Dark Blue and expect average days from teams that are White.

All times are Eastern

New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers – Thursday 8:25pm
As I write this the Thursday night game has already been played. Picking the Saints was the right move thanks to the half point in the point spread as the Panthers won by 3 points but more was expected from both teams in the air as this was a gravy matchup for both when throwing the ball. Instead, we witnessed ineptitude and incompetence in a game that has both teams searching for answers that likely won’t come this season. What the Saints and Panthers should have done was to have both coaches meet in the center of the field, put all their players in a pool and conduct a fantasy draft and immediately trade those players, I bet they would both be better teams as a result.

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts – Sunday 1:00pm
If you have been a frequent reader of The Progno you’ll know that we jumped on the Titans bandwagon early as an “up and comer”, going as far as to predict a bold win over the Packers last week. Make no mistake, the Titans have every chance in the world in this game too as they will be able to pass and run all over the Colts for one of the better offensive displays of the week. You should also know (if you have been a frequent reader) that the trick to figuring out the Colts is to just believe in the magic of Luck. The Colts have the weapons up top to hit the Titans hard and the Titans on the road are a different ballgame than when they are at home, but Tennessee will be in this all the way to the bitter end.

Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals – Sunday 1:00pm
There’s this guy named LeSean McCoy that plays for the Bills that I’ve heard is pretty good. The Bills can be hit or miss, often shooting themselves in the foot, but when they stitch together four complete quarters they become a good football team. There have been signs of progress lately with Tyrod Taylor and maintaining that progress will be essential here but this is all about that McCoy guy and boy will he rumble. Do not be afraid to play your Bengals, they will all be decent in this and while they won’t win your fantasy matchup, they won’t hurt you either.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns – Sunday 1:00pm
Fantasy wise this is all about the Steelers. They will throw and run the ball with authority on a Browns defense that has plenty of holes. The Steelers are on the road in a division game so there will be a little extra in it for the Browns where they will have extra fire but it will still be a difficult challenge for the Browns. Ground your Browns as there won’t be a lot of fantasy points to be had but they’ll manage to grind this one out and keep it interesting as the Steelers have problems of their own to contend with, as these are two teams that both have more losses than wins.

P.S. Dear Steelers, please stop going for two points on every score. Sincerely, all Chris Boswell owners.
