How to read the table: The table shows how a team will do Passing and Rushing in the upcoming week of the NFL. Red is HOT, Yellow is WARM, White is NORMAL, Light Blue is COLD and Dark Blue is FREEZING COLD. Play players from teams that are Red and Yellow, avoid players from teams that are Light or Dark Blue and expect average days from teams that are White.

All times are Eastern

Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals – Thursday 8:25pm
What an ugly game but that should have been expected. We expected a bit more from Andy Dalton and a bit less from the Texans offense. Houston just played just that small amount better and the result was a low scoring affair filled with errors and mistakes. It is not a good feeling when it is Week 2, you are 0-2 and there looks to be no hope already for this season.

Arizona Cardinals at Indianapolis Colts – Sunday 1:00pm
If Andrew Luck were playing in this game, the Colts would win this. But he’s not, so they won’t. Jacoby Brissett, welcome to Indianapolis, your locker is over there, talk to the equipment manager about getting a jersey, and here is the playbook. Game time is in about an hour, we’ll probably start you. Any questions?
While I happen to be a Brissett believer, this isn’t the way it was supposed to be. Things get worse before they get better in Indy. Arizona has one thing going for it, they have a very good defense, which is handy, because their offense is falling apart. Carson Palmer‘s struggles and now the loss of David Johnson for an extended period of time, really hurts this unit. Expect both offenses to struggle but for Arizona to struggle less.

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars – Sunday 1:00pm
Perhaps the call by some that anointed Marcus Mariota as the next big thing in football.. was a bit.. premature. There will be growing pains with the Titans. They do have talent in a lot of places, they are building a good team and the folks in player/personnel should be proud of what they are accomplishing but it will take time for all the pieces to click together.
The Jaguars on defense are for real, that was how it looked on paper this preseason too, but so many weren’t willing to give them their due just because it was Jacksonville. They will make things difficult for Tennessee on offense. Allen Robinson was a big set piece on offense to lose for the Jaguars and they really couldn’t afford to lose any pieces. Marqise Lee has the tools to be the next man up and succeed. One thing is for sure though, if you own Leonard Fournette he will rumble but with the mileage the Jaguars appear to want to put on him, you should have Chris Ivory on your roster just in case.

Minnesota Vikings at Pittsburgh Steelers – Sunday 1:00pm
It won’t be pretty, but the Steelers will get Le’Veon Bell started and then they just won’t stop him. People can call his reduced usage what they want, and a big part of it was all the success that Antonio Brown was having as he was simply uncover-able last week, but don’t think for a second that the team wasn’t just sending Bell a subtle message. A little jab that they can win without him and his little “me-me-me” stunt this off season did not go unnoticed.
The Vikings came out well, Sam Bradford found his open receivers frequently and rookie Dalvin Cook looked fantastic. They still have no offensive line which will cause untold headaches along the way for Minnesota and fantasy owners alike. Pittsburgh did some retooling on defense and as expected, they looked really good. Minnesota will have their hands full trying to keep the Steelers out of their backfield.

Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs – Sunday 1:00pm
Carson Wentz against a retooled Washington team is one thing, going into Kansas City and playing against the Patriot beaters is another. There is some justifiable hope in Philadelphia, the team looked pretty good last week, the defense is as tough as advertised and they will play up to Kansas City. Expect in particular a good day in the air for the Eagles as the loss of Eric Berry hurts Kansas City a lot. The Chiefs are hard to defend and while the Eagles will get after them, the Chiefs win a lot of those battles. Expect another nice outing from Tyreek Hill and for Travis Kelce to be very much involved. Kareem Hunt of course will run well but he will do more damage in the air this week than on the ground.

Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sunday 1:00pm
Chicago put up a bigger fight than many expected last week and if not for one mistake, would have beat the Atlanta Falcons. This one is on the road for them and while they will continue to play above their pay grade (they will make this one close with some surprisingly efficient passing and play calling) it will be the unheralded Jacquizz Rodgers that puts his team on his back. Tampa Bay has their stars like Jameis Winston and Mike Evans but the Bears have a sneaky good secondary and they will be a thorn in Tampa’s passing attack. Expect Tampa to turn this into the “dink-and-dunk” show with Jacquizz Rodgers running and catching everything sent his way.

Buffalo Bills at Carolina Panthers – Sunday 1:00pm
There will be a surprising amount of points and fantasy statistics that will come out of this game. Expect this to be a “ground-and-pound” as the Panthers run their duo of Jonathan Stewart and Christian McCaffrey with efficiency and the Bills answer in turn with LeSean McCoy. Play the ground games here. Cam Newton not only looked rusty but obviously had some discomfort throwing the ball — that is not a good sign. Keep this one to the ground games and you will do well here.

New England Patriots at New Orleans Saints – Sunday 1:00pm
And the sky falls in New England. Make no mistake, this will be all about Tom Brady and Drew Brees but the Patriots defensively have had issues all preseason and those issues continued into Week 1. In their last five football games since the Super Bowl the Patriots are 1-4. The Saints are good at home, it’s the road that defeats them. If Sean Payton calls a good game, it will be a tough one for the Patriots but there’s a really good chance that he won’t if last week was any indication. What a debacle that was as the Saints are not using their personnel to maximize their contributions. You know what you should have done Sean? Run Adrian Peterson for the first half and then assess. You need to know what you have there but instead, you rolled out your “packages” and all the defense had to do was see who was at running back to know how to defend. In the case of the Saints, they need to get back to understanding that it’s the heart of the player, not the scheme you draw up on paper. The Saints most certainly can fumble this one away with atrocious play calling but on paper, they win this. You read it here.
