THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 2

New Orleans Saints at New York Giants – Sunday 12:00pm
For as crazy a fantasy scoring game as the Steelers and Bengals will be, this one takes the cake as the fantasy game of the week. Both offenses will score at will in a game that will see huge fantasy scores. You play everything you own in this and reap the rewards. Everything but the team defenses that is. You light a match and burn those units this week because it will be an offensive clinic with running lanes a highway wide and receivers open all over the field.

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins – Sunday 12:00pm

The Redskins are a lot more dangerous than they showed in their opener. I say the coaching staff let them down, mistakes were made and the players weren’t prepared. All that changes in a hurry for this matchup against a Cowboys team that seems like it is missing a step. As I have said for years, the Cowboys need the right coach and the right coach will only come along if Jerry Jones allows it. Instead of Mr. Jones dictating to his coach how their relationship will work, he needs a leader that isn’t afraid to lead, no matter what Mr. Jones may think. There are a lot of talented players on the Cowboys, they just need to be shown the way.

Do not forget DeSean Jackson and Jordan Reed here. Pierre Garcon will even contribute. Having said all that about the Cowboys, there’s no denying talent and Ezekiel Elliott will get his dues this day but where it goes so horribly wrong for the Cowboys is when the Redskins pass the ball. It’s hard to beat a good passing attack when all that’s working is your running game.

Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions – Sunday 12:00pm
What a day for the passing quarterback in the NFL this Sunday. We didn’t have to wait long as Week 2 will already put on display why drafting Wide Receivers and making sure you have a “money in the bank” Quarterback is a really nice feature to have. Enjoy the resurgence of Matthew Stafford, all it took was the removal of a focal point in the offense to get all the promise that’s been bottled up inside Stafford like mentos dropped inside a bottle of Coke. You’re also going to get a surprise for Marcus Mariota as he flirts with 300 yards passing on the day. Delanie Walker will be looked at frequently. Be careful with DeMarco Murray this week as the Titans will need to move away from their running game very quickly in this one just to try and keep pace with the Lions.

San Francisco 49ers at Carolina Panthers – Sunday 12:00pm
This is going to turn into a grind it out on the ground type of game. The Panthers because they know that they don’t want to lose half of their receivers and their star QB early in the season to injury and think that all they need to do is keep it on the ground, don’t turn it over, and let their defense win the game. Which is absolutely the proper and winning game plan. Versus the 49’ers that are actually going to have surprising success running Carlos Hyde against the tough front seven of Carolina.
