THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 6

Welcome my fantasy brethren to another edition of The Prognosticator, may it carry a torch for you. Injuries continue to impact the outcome of games as there sure seem to be a lot of players dinged, hurt, on IR, or in the concussion protocol. I haven’t done a study to see if there are more or less than usual but they are having an effect on who wins the games. Let’s hope we do not have any more big names go down this week as it is the part of fantasy that hurts the most. Just when you thought your lineup was untouchable, disaster strikes. It is so very important to never waste a precious roster slot. If you play this game right, your bench should be as artfully built as your starting lineup. Keep bulding those benches because you never know when you’ll have to lean on them. Have a good week!

How to read the table: The table shows how a team will do Passing and Rushing in the upcoming week of the NFL. Red is HOT, Yellow is WARM, White is NORMAL, Light Blue is COLD and Dark Blue is FREEZING COLD. Play players from teams that are Red and Yellow, avoid players from teams that are Light or Dark Blue and expect average days from teams that are White.

All times are Eastern

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers – Thursday 8:25pm
This game has been played already as I write this. It’s nice to see that the underdog Chargers were calculated to win this one and win they did. 1-0 this week so far!

San Francisco 49ers at Buffalo Bills – Sunday 1:00pm
While Colin Kaepernick certainly can’t play much worse than Blaine Gabbert, there is still a systemic problem with the 49’ers. They are a team that is in the middle of a rebuild and teams that are trying to claw their way back to relevance are never all that good. This one will be all about who can run the ball best and the Bills will prove to be better. It is still a nice performance by Carlos Hyde but LeSean McCoy will have a big day as the Bills gash the 49’ers for large gains.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Miami Dolphins – Sunday 1:00pm
The Steelers offense is just plain scary right now to try and defend against. They are able to create mismatches and they have a quarterback that can find the open man. You play all your Steelers here of course. The Dolphins can keep pace, when they throw the ball they will have a much better day than many are giving them credit for but the Dolphins don’t have Le’Veon Bell and that alone will make the difference.

Cincinnati Bengals at New England Patriots – Sunday 1:00pm
This is going to turn into an odd one as most are expecting Tom Brady to throw for a zillion yards and 50 touchdowns in his home opener but the Patriots would rather pound the ball on the ground and keep the passing short in this matchup. They won’t need much more that they either as the Patriots will focus on taking away A.J. Green but it will leave old friend Brandon LaFell open and he’ll somewhat surprisingly, play very well here in his own homecoming back to New England.

Prediction: New England Patriots 23 – Cincinnati Bengals 17
