THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Wildcard Weekend

Welcome my fantasy brethren to another edition of The Prognosticator, may it help you find your way. It’s playoff time in the NFL and it couldn’t be any more exciting. Enjoy the games everyone!

How to read the table: The table shows how a team will do Passing and Rushing in the upcoming week of the NFL. Red is HOT, Yellow is WARM, White is NORMAL, Light Blue is COLD and Dark Blue is FREEZING COLD. Play players from teams that are Red and Yellow, avoid players from teams that are Light or Dark Blue and expect average days from teams that are White.

All times are Eastern

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans – Saturday 4:25pm
Houston’s defense at home is going to come ready to play. They still have holes in their secondary but the “big fellas” in the trench and linebackers are going to bring the pain. Andrew Luck can and will still sling the ball all over the field but Indianapolis will struggle to get anything started on the ground. With Andrew Luck, Indianapolis always has a legitimate chance in this but the Colts defense will struggle trying to contain Houston’s offense (especially when Houston runs the ball). If Andrew Luck can answer score-for-score, which he may, then all bets are off.

Favorite: Houston Texans by 1.5
Prediction: Houston Texans 30 – Indianapolis Colts 20

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys – Saturday 8:15pm
Both teams are playing much better now than they did at the beginning of the season. Seattle has been hot with their running game that no one seems to be able to solve. Dallas played well to get themselves into the playoffs but there were a couple of clunkers down the stretch too. Dallas at home is not going to be easy to beat, they will play well, but Seattle can take Dallas out of their tempo with all the clock they can run that Dallas will discover that they bit off just a bit more than they can chew. If this game comes down to a final drive, I think we’d all prefer Russell Wilson in that scenario than Dak Prescott.

Los Angeles Chargers at Baltimore Ravens – Sunday 1:05pm
The Chargers are a hot pick to make it to the Super Bowl but those predictors must not have watched the 22-10 beat down just two weeks ago IN LOS ANGELES. With this game in Baltimore, expect a tremendous defensive effort once again as they shut down Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon. Expect a hard hitting game where Baltimore’s defense punches the Chargers in the eye, while their offense keeps the ball on the ground with a lot of Kenneth Dixon and Gus Edwards.

Favorite: Baltimore Ravens by 2.5
Prediction: Baltimore Ravens 27 – Los Angeles Chargers 24
Category Advantage
Rushing
Passing
Offense
Interceptions
Fumbles

Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears – Sunday 4:40pm
The fact that this game is in Chicago changes everything. Philadelphia is not the team they were last year and their race to the big game will be cut short this year against a very tough defensive unit. Mitchell Trubisky will play well here, getting the ball to a host of characters.

Favorite: Chicago Bears by 6
Prediction: Chicago Bears 27 – Philadelphia Eagles 23
Category Advantage
Rushing
Passing
Offense
Interceptions
Fumbles
