“RapidDraft Tonight”

You’re in for an extra-special treat today. Not only do I bring you some RapidDraft tidbits that are going to put you a little bit closer to the $250,000 grand prize, but I’ve written some lyrics, titled ‘RapidDraft Tonight,’ to go along with the music to The Starland Vocal Band’s 1976 No. 1 hit ‘Afternoon Delight’.

Pierre Thomas

was the 21st RB taken. He went in the middle of the third round. He’s going to be a Top 10 RB, so feel free to try a different strategy other than RB/RB in the first two rounds.

Darren Sproles

Ray Rice both went in the sixth round. I’d rather have Rice at that price.

Matt Schaub

is going to be a Top 3 QB and I got him in the eighth round. I’m very happy.

Sage Rosenfels

went in the ninth round while

Favre went in the 10th round.  I wouldn’t touch either one.

Tarvaris Jackson is going to be the man when it’s all said and done. You’ll be able to get

Jackson as a free agent once the season starts. Unless, of course,

Minnesota cuts or trades him, in which case I’d take Rosenfels.

Jackson was 12-for-15 with two touchdowns in Week 2 of the preseason against

Kansas City. He also had a strong run over the last four games of last season. After replacing

Gus Frer

tte in Week 14 against

Detroit, he threw for eight touchdowns and only one interception while leading the Vikings to a 3-1 record.

Favre is going to make

Michael Jordan’s run with the Wizards look like a victory tour by the time this season is over. For those of you not familiar with basketball, Jordan, a career 30.1 ppg scorer, averaged 21.2 points over two seasons with the Wizards.

49ers WR

Josh Morgan, went in the 10th round while

Michael Crabtree went in the 11th round. Somebody better update their rankings: Crabtree is nothing better than a midseason free agent pickup.

Michael Bush and

Justin Fargas went in the 13th round. Go with the upside of Bush.

I took

Jeremy Shockey in the 15th round; he was the 15th TE selected. He’s a risky pick, but plenty of upside.

T.J. Duckett

went in Round 15. Don’t you be that guy.

I took

James Davis, Cleveland RB, in Round 18 and

Mike Goodson, Carolina RB, in Round 19. Both have a ton of upside.

I’m not even going to attempt to explain why I did the following. Just know that a lot of random thoughts come and go throughout the day and this just happened to be one that I felt compelled to follow through on. I was able to put these lyrics together in about a half hour after coming up with the main points while cutting the grass.

Hmmm … I probably should’ve held some of that back just in case VH1’s “Behind The Music” calls.

For some reason I had the song

“Afternoon Delight” by the Starland Vocal Band stuck in my head. Then I began to think about doing a RapidDraft this evening and from those random thoughts sprung the master piece below. I highly recommend that you have a quick listen to

‘Afternoon Delight’ before you go any further.

“RapidDraft Tonight” by Jimmy B

Gonna grab my cheatsheets, gonna hold them tight

Gonna do a RapidDraft tonight.

My motto’s always been; when it’s right, it’s right.

Why wait until your league’s official draft night.

When everything becomes clearer when you mock against the best.

And you’ll win a quarter mil if you’re better than the rest.

Sky rockets in flight. RapidDraft tonight. RapidDraft tonight.

Thinkin’ of some sleepers is workin’ up my appetite

Looking forward to a little RapidDraft tonight.

Tom Brady is back and his knee looks fine

And if I get the first pick he will be all mine.

Sky rockets in flight. RapidDraft tonight. RapidDraft tonight.

Started out this mornin’ and nothin’ felt right

Then I realized I could RapidDraft tonight

It only costs 10 bucks and Caitlin is there

If ever I meet her we will split a beer.

Sky rockets in flight. RapidDraft tonight. RapidDraft tonight.

Maybe I’ll draft a kicker in the middle rounds

There will be no other person there to smack me down.

Sky rockets in flight. RapidDraft tonight. RapidDraft tonight.
