What a night last night. Opportunity presented itself all over the place and often at the last moment based on so many goalie changes. It was an exciting time trying to keep up with all the changes on the fly and reevaluating each bet. Arizona lost in OT and really, Winnipeg and even Nashville losing is just one of those things. Winnipeg at 8-4-1 going up against Ottawa at 2-12-1 usually makes for a good bet but sometimes, like last night, the team with only 2 wins this season now have 3. Similarly, Nashville against a 3-12-1 Detroit team tends to make for a good bet but Detroit came out hard and won that game with some good play throughout. Sometimes, it just happens that way and the results on paper don’t match what happens in the game and you just have to absorb those. Just two games on the card today. Patience is a virtue in this and we will continue to lie in wait for opportunity.

We’re clawing our way back. Thanks to the B’s as usual for coming through. They’ve been reliable for us so far but the odds makers have definitely caught up as the opening line is starting to get to where it should be for the Bruins, we were getting better odds on the Bruins earlier in the season. Ten games on the card today.

It was the over/unders that helped to lessen the pain but the big difference was that our top bets of the night didn’t come in. The Islanders and Pittsburgh went to a shootout which we lost with the Pens winning that one. If the Islanders win that shootout we win the day and we are ahead for the week. Just two games to look at for today.

Ah well. We had Boston in the parlay as a winner but Toronto was the better team in Montreal. Our matchup data had Montreal as the favorite and the odds makers agreed but if you weren’t scared of Toronto, you aren’t human. It was just a little play yesterday, onto a big slate of games today.

Granted, we were on the favorites last night but no matter the side, a win always means something is coming our way. Yet another night where we rolled just to get stymied by the underdog bet at the end of the night that lost in a shootout. I consider those to be good bets, if you can get odds and your team takes it to a shootout, win or lose, that was a good bet and it’s those opportunities that we chase. Just two games today and to get some help with the odds paying us something worthwhile, it’ll be our first parlay of the season. Individually they don’t pay much but pairing the two favorites today (Boston and Montreal) it makes the payout more palatable but of course a lot more risk is involved as both teams need to win.

Meh. There just wasn’t anything strong enough yesterday or gave good enough odds to consider. A big slate today to sift through.

Update: It’s “ride the favorites day” here at Fantasy Sharks.

You win some you lose some. A winning week in Week 3 overall though, let’s move on to Week 4. There are six games on the card today to evaluate.

Update: There’s not much to choose from today, it’s a bit of a mess throughout with at least two goalies that have yet to start a game this season expected (Nedeljkovic for Carolina and Smith for Edmonton) but with a potential switch from Rinne to Saros in net for Nashville, we’ll sprinkle a little on Toronto for some extra coffee money in the morning. We’ll keep an eye on things today in case another change causes a bet to generate but for now, a light sprinkle on Tampa Bay is all we’ve got.

Update: With McElhinney in net for Tampa tonight and a potential switch back to Rinne for Nashville, that bet comes off the board. Toronto is interesting but at -205.. we’ll just sit back and watch tonight.

Odds are from DraftKings. Your odds may differ.

Used for reference. We treat all bets each day as an overall block so it is important to maintain the ratios between the bets when adjusting to your personal limits. If we show 15 and 20 for example for two separate bets.  Then appropriate bets would be, $15/$20, $30/$40 or $150/$200.

Pending: We are waiting for information, usually it’s confirmation of who the starting goalie’s will be in the game for both teams. Wagers are created each morning using the expected goalies. If expectations change, we reevaluate the bet before locking it in.

Warning: Something we are concerned about has occurred and we are waiting for confirmation. The bet remains a pending bet but it’s leaning more toward a no bet with the latest undesirable developments.

No bet: Something has changed that has caused us to no longer consider this wager.

Likely: We’re waiting on one or two confirmations to come in but all signs point to this being a good bet.

Locked: Place the bet.

Calculated using a 10% “vig” for straight bets and over/under bets. The vig is included in the odds for a ML (Money Line) bet.
