Update: As of this morning, there just isn’t a bet to place. Vancouver is back but haven’t played in weeks so we aren’t touching that game. Houser is in net for Buffalo which pulls that off the board too due to the unpredictable nature of that game. The rest is just a hodge-podge of games that each have a lot of contrary signals in the data. If I HAD to pick something, it would probably be Boston -125 on the Money Line but there are problems with that bet too as Washington should out shoot them and end up with more shots on goal so it’s not an ideal bet to place either.

Outcome: -3.60

Team(s) Vs. Time (ET) Bet Type Odds Amount Status Result Total
Winnipeg Edmonton 7:00pm ML -124 12 Locked L (0-3)  -12
Winnipeg Edmonton 7:00pm U 6 7 Locked  W (0-3)  +6.30
Florida @Tampa Bay 7:00pm U 6 6 Locked L (5-3)  -6
Nashville @Carolina 7:00pm U 5.5 6 8 9 Locked W (1-3)  +8.10
San Jose @Minnesota 8:00pm O 5.5 7 No Bet

Recap: A mixed bag today, if we stuck with the San Jose/Minnesota Over it would have won the day but things fell apart in that bet with a switch to Jones in net for San Jose. We’re ahead of the book rolling into the last day of the week though which is the only place we try to be – let’s see if we can win the week!

Friday April 16, 2021

Outcome: +6.30

Team(s) Vs. Time (ET) Bet Type Odds Amount Status Result Total
Vegas @Anaheim 10:00pm U 5.5 7 Locked W (4-0) +6.30

Recap: It was a light schedule today with just five games to choose from but we did pluck one good bet out from the noise. Things haven’t changed much as the book has been keeping the totals low which has closed the gap a little on the massive haul we were getting betting the under. Those bets are still there but we have to be much more selective now. The money lines too have been spot on, every once in a while we used to find an underdog that was capable of winning and could get good odds but right now, those bets have not been there.

It’s a dangerous time for those that crave “action” as it’s important right now to bet with your head and not with your heart until things open back up again, which they will. This has always been an ebb and flow past time where the best betters know when it’s important to walk away when there just isn’t anything there and that is hard to do for some. It’s important to take what you are given in this instead of trying to manufacture something from a game that you shouldn’t have been looking at in the first place. Don’t force your bets, find the seams, look for opportunity and when it presents itself, pounce.

Thursday April 15, 2021

Outcome: -12.90

7:00pm Par +101  14 Locked L -14
Winnipeg @Toronto 7:00pm U 6 7 Locked L (5-2) -7
Nashville @Carolina 7:00pm U 5.5 9 Locked W (1-4) +8.10

Recap: It’s hard to win a parlay when the unexpected happens (Buffalo beating Washington in Washington) but there it is. Winnipeg lit the lamp on us with five unexpected goals against a good Toronto team at home in Toronto. Thankfully, Nashville and Carolina did what was expected by keeping the total low which helped to not only cover the Jets’ outpouring of offense but also cut into the Parlay losses a little too.

Team(s) Vs. Time (ET) Bet Type Odds Amount Status Result Total
Anaheim @San Jose 10:30pm U 5.5 6 No Bet

Recap: As it turns out, the Anaheim/San Jose under was a winner but I ran away from it when Anaheim decided to go with youngster Anthony Stolarz in net over Gibson. That just didn’t sound like a recipe for success in an under situation, even if the unexpected goalie change did move the total to 6. Stolarz gave up just one goal in a stellar 4-1 win for Anaheim against a suddenly reeling Sharks team.

Tuesday April 13, 2021

Philadelphia @Washington  7:00pm O 6 8 6

Tampa Bay @Nashville 8:00pm U 5.5 8 6

Florida @Dallas 8:30pm U 5.5 7 5
Locked W (3-2) +4.50

Recap: We are back on familiar footing with another win, it was a tricky day of hockey betting as the book has been solid lately and the slip ups haven’t been frequent but there has been some opportunity if you know where to look. They have aggressively pushed the over/under totals down and have kept them down for one. For two, the matchups have been hard to place a bet on. When a team is -330 to win, that’s a no bet as it’s just foolish to lay those odds on the favorite or the underdog for that matter and there have been a lot of those lately. The only way we can place those is if we pair them in a parlay to help with the odds but there haven’t been any good pairings lately either. The puck line is also a place to get some action to help bring the odds into something more acceptable but our risk of course goes up when we do, the game of hockey is geared to be a one goal difference with OT and shootout rules and like we saw this day between teams like Boston and Buffalo, where Boston won 3-2 in a shootout, for some that may have looked like a good puck line bet but in reality.. it’s a one goal game. Scores were all over the place with Calgary beating Toronto 3-2 and Nashville pounding Tampa Bay 7-2, I’m glad we stayed away from that mess and just sprinkled some totals to seed a victory for Tuesday.

Monday April 12, 2021

Outcome: +10.26

Team(s) Vs. Time (ET) Bet Type Odds Amount Status Result Total
Colorado Arizona  9:00pm PL -129 30 Locked W (4-1)  +23.26
Colorado Arizona 9:00pm O 5.5 13 Locked L (4-1) -13
San Jose Anaheim 10:30pm PL +138 8 No Bet

Recap: We went for it when Arizona announced plans to start the very green Prosvetov in goal against a very scary team like Colorado. We were just one goal away from erasing all of last week in a single game if the Over had just come in too, but that’s OK, a win is a win as we never look the gift-horse in the mouth.
