STREAMING DEFENSES: Week 5

We are entering the bye week season and it’s time to take a close look at streaming players. Most of us stream a defense especially when it comes to covering our bye weeks. So if you have the Chicago defense, or maybe you have Jacksonville, who is going against Kansas City this week. Here are a few options that you could play this week.

Houston at home vs. Dallas (Grade A+): So far this year, Houston has been average at-best on defense. This week Houston gets Dallas, who has possibly the worst receiving core in the NFL. If you can contain Ezekiel Elliott you can shut down the Dallas offense completely. If Houston can’t have a good week this week than it may be time to cut bait on J.J. Watt and company.

Tennessee at Buffalo (Grade A): Here is a free hint: play every defense who goes against Buffalo. The Buffalo offense is so bad it they could make 2012 New Orleans look like 1985 Chicago. On the other side, Tennessee has been shutting other teams down and the defense is winning games for the team. This is a great matchup, and Tennessee is a must start.

Cincinnati at home vs. Miami (Grade B+): For some reason when I think of the best defenses in the NFL I never think of Cincinnati. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that Cincinnati is historically one of the most undisciplined teams in the NFL. It always seem to have a killer penalty, a turnover, or give up a big play at the most inopportune time. This year, Cincinnati (so far) has avoided many of these mistakes and it has translated into wins. If Cincinnati continues this solid play it should have no problem with a weak Miami offense.

Daily Fantasy Corner

Buffalo at home vs. Tennessee (DraftKings $2,300/Fan Duel $3,500): Obviously I am not a fan of the Buffalo offense but its defense isn’t that bad. Two weeks ago the defense shut down Minnesota and if it can do that to Minnesota it can do it against Tennessee. Marcus Mariota hasn’t taken that next step we all expected him to make and Buffalo can exploit that. This game has the making of a 12-6 game with both defenses having a good day.
