Welcome to Thanksgiving Week of Survivor! Three games on tap on Thursday, but will any be worthy of a pick in survivor? Check out the breakdown to help make your choice this weekend!
For those who have been reading for the last few years, my golden rule is to avoid the road teams, especially early in the season when you have more options. I also do not like to take divisional games if I can avoid them. However, it is understood that you may not have a choice some weeks to follow those rules. It is also more difficult now as some survivor pools make you pick two teams down the stretch of the season to thin out the field.
The Lions had so many chances to put the game out of reach against the Bucs, but red zone turnovers were deadly. The last interception, which was a quick strip against
at the three yard line was the icing on the cake for that game. It likely knocked out plenty of survivor hopefuls. For those who are left, let’s get into the action for Week 13:
Packers @ Lions – If you still have the Lions available, that means you advanced last week. I would consider Detroit if there were no other possible options this week. They are at home against the
-less Packers. Green Bay has failed to win without their best player.
Raiders @ Cowboys – Dallas is a fine option at home against the Raiders. Although, you can never trust the Cowboys as they seem to win a big game then lose the following week. However, they are still only tied for first in the NFC East and cannot let this one slip away.
Steelers @ Ravens – Football fans should be glad that both of these teams are now back in the hunt and this is a huge battle for wildcard positioning.
Sunday & Monday Games
The Cleveland Browns should be on your radar in Week 13 of survivor. They host the Jaguars in a game they should win after being embarrassed by Pittsburgh last week. The Jaguars beat the Texans on the road last week so I am not expecting them to win two in a row. The Patriots are an option even though they are on the road in Houston, who has become arguably the most disappointing team of 2013. Carolina is favored by 8.5 against Tampa Bay, but the Bucs are hot right now and I would hold off on that one.
Picks in order
: Cowboys, Browns, Patriots, Lions
The Panthers avoided the upset in Week 12 thanks to Cam Newton and the second half defensive performance. This week I am advising you to avoid the
49ers. They are favored by 8.5 at home, but the Rams did give them trouble last year. If
is out, that is a big loss for the Rams offense. The 49ers need these games to keep pace with the Cardinals, but I expect the Rams defense to play tough in this one.
Good luck in Week 13 and Happy Thanksgiving!
