Survivor – Week 8

Week 8 offers several teams favored by a touchdown or more. Should any of these teams be on upset alert? Check out the breakdown to help make your choice this weekend!

For those who have been reading for the last few years, my golden rule is to avoid the road teams, especially early in the season when you have more options. I also do not like to take divisional games if I can avoid them. However, it is understood that you may not have a choice some weeks to follow those rules. It is also more difficult now as some survivor pools make you pick two teams down the stretch of the season to thin out the field.

Let’s get into the action for Week 8:

Thursday Night

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
– I would favor the home teams on the short weeks, so if the favorite is the road team, I prefer to stay away. Carolina is the road favorite in a divisional game so I’m going to pass.

Sunday and Monday Games

San Francisco (-16.5) vs. Jacksonville (in London)

Philadelphia (-6) vs. New York Giants

Kansas City (-7) vs. Cleveland

New Orleans (-12) vs. Buffalo

New England (-6.5) vs. Miami

Cincinnati (-6.5) vs. New York Jets

Denver (-13) vs. Washington

Green Bay (-10) at Minnesota

Seattle (-10) at St. Louis

These are all of the big favorites in Week 8. Two of these teams are on the road in the division, so I would pass on them (
Green Bay and Seattle). That leaves us with seven teams. If you still have
Denver, I would hold on to the Broncos another week since there are others viable options.
San Francisco plays in London, but that would not stop me from picking the 49ers. They are the No. 1 option this week. The next best choice would be
New Orleans at home against Buffalo. Don’t take a chance with
New England in the divisional battle, even though they will likely rebound after the tough loss in New York.
Kansas City is going to lose at some point, but should be able to move to 8-0 against Cleveland. I rank them third. That leaves
Cincinnati and
Philadelphia. I am not considering the
Eagles as you can read below. The
Bengals are the fourth-best choice against the Jets, who will be riding high after that Week 7 win.

Philadelphia (-6) vs. New York Giants – This is a divisional matchup and the Eagles have not won at home in a long time. They should be able to handle the Giants, but there are questions surrounding
Michael Vick

’s health. The last thing you want to rely on is
Matt Barkley

to save your survivor season in the event Vick can not finish the game.

Good luck in Week 8!
