Survivor – Week 9

The “team to avoid” lost again in Week 8 with the Philadelphia Eagles falling to the New York Giants at home. Beware of those divisional games. Who should be on the lookout in Week 9? Check out the breakdown to help make your choice this weekend!

For those who have been reading for the last few years, my golden rule is to avoid the road teams, especially early in the season when you have more options. I also do not like to take divisional games if I can avoid them. However, it is understood that you may not have a choice some weeks to follow those rules. It is also more difficult now as some survivor pools make you pick two teams down the stretch of the season to thin out the field.

Let’s get into the action for Week 9:

Thursday Night

Cincinnati at Miami –
Should be a close game. All in all, you should be avoiding these Thursday night games.

Sunday and Monday Games

Top Picks (in order of confidence):

Seattle

(-16) vs. Tampa Bay – Easy choice if you have the Seahawks available.

Dallas

(-10) vs. Minnesota – The Cowboys need to rebound at home against the struggling Vikings.

Green Bay

(-10) vs. Chicago – The Packers’ offense is not going to be easy to stop for the Bears’ banged up defense.

Carolina

(-7) vs. Atlanta – Divisional matchup, but the Falcons are slumping. Is it time to trust Carolina? I would rank them behind these three other teams.

Avoid

There are not any glaring teams to avoid that are big favorites this week. I would pass on Kansas City (-3) at Buffalo and Tennessee (-3) at St. Louis. I like the home underdogs. The only game that may be tempting would be the New Orleans Saints in New York to take on the Jets. However, the Jets’ strength on defense is stopping the run and New Orleans does just the opposite. I wouldn’t recommend taking the Saints, but I do not think they must be avoided this weekend.

Good luck in Week 9!
