SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS: Week 3 Injury Fallout

Taylon Smith DAL tackles Saquon Barkley NYG

We’ll have to wait for the MRI results before we know the severity of the sprain, but given the type of injury, you should expect Barkley to miss at least a few games. With Barkley likely sidelined for some period of time, third-year back Wayne Gallman will be the starter.

SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS: Week 2 Injury Fallout

We’ll have to wait for Brees to meet with that hand specialist before we’ll know the extent of the injury, but his inability to return to the game certainly casts doubt on his future availability. If Brees is sidelined for any amount of time, then sixth-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will be under center.

SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS: Week 1 Injury Fallout

Tyreek Hill suffered the injury when he was tackled by cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment soon after. Kansas City’s chief athletic trainer stated that Hill injured a sternoclavicular joint (where the collarbone meets the sternum), and ESPN’s Adam Schefter later reported that Hill does not need surgery but will miss a few weeks.

SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS: Week 8 Injury Fallout

Kansas City has not yet given any other updates regarding Tyreek Hill’s injury, so we don’t know the seriousness of it at this point. If Hill is forced to miss Week 9 against Cleveland, then Sammy Watkins would become the team’s No. 1 receiver, with Chris Conley being the likely starter opposite him.

SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS: Week 7 Injury Fallout

RB Sony Michel NEP

The Patriots have not released any information about Michel’s injury, but his inability to put weight on his leg is certainly concerning. He also appeared to be in a lot of pain following the injury, so don’t be surprised if he is forced to miss significant time. That would be a big blow to the Patriots, who have already placed Rex Burkhead and Jeremy Hill on IR.

THE FIRE SALE: Rookie RB Breakdown

RB Sony Michel Georgia

I’m a big fan of both Georgia running backs and I like where each ended up. Some might look at Sony Michel and think he has too much competition for touches with James White and Rex Burkhead in the same backfield. Not me. Bill Belichick doesn’t use first-round picks on guys he doesn’t expect to contribute right away.

2017 FANTASY POST MORTEM: New Orleans Saints

With the Saints seemingly shifting from a fast-paced air attack to a more ground-and-pound ball control oriented offense, there should be plenty of touches for both Ingram and Kamara to thrive as RB1s this coming season, though early indications are that the younger Kamara will be the more expensive option in summer fantasy drafts.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Tennessee Titans

With second-year wideout Corey Davis on track to enter training camp healthy, receiving specialist Dion Lewis now in the fold, and a new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur (formerly of the Rams) calling the shots, Mariota should be better set up to replicate or even surpass his 2016 breakout.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Carolina Panthers

Now 31 years-old, Jonathan Stewart began to show his age as he mustered a career-low 3.4 yards-per-carry and ran for 68 rushing yards or fewer in 13-of-15 games played. Evidently the New York Giants were not concerned with Stewart’s eroding ability, as they signed him to a two-year $6.9 million contract via free agency this past March.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Los Angeles Rams

Touted as a fantasy sleeper all of last off-season, Cooper Kupp delivered the goods by leading all rookie wideouts in catches. Kupp was particularly productive as the Rams’ No. 1 wideout during Weeks 12-14, notching both of his 100-yard games over that span.
