The Hive – Week 10 edition
Welcome back to The Hive! 24 tackles. Un-flipping-real. David Harris is the new stud in the world of IDP, no doubt about it. Week 9 also showed the continued emergence of LaRon Landry, who is realizing his massive talent in
Washington
. Along with Pat Willis, this has been a very solid year for IDP rookies, and we have a couple more who are primed for huge performances this week as well. Let’s take a look at the week 10 games!
How we rank `em!
Giddyup! – YEEEHAW!!
SINS! – solid if not spectacular
Hellno! – Get it? Got it? Good.
Atlanta
@
Carolina
Sunday 10am PST
Atlanta
Giddyup! –
Michael Boley, Keith Brooking
SINS! –
Demorrio Williams, John Abraham, Deangelo Hall, Lawyer Milloy
Hellno! –
Stephen Nicholas
Carolina
Giddyup! –
Jon Beason, Chris Harris, Julius Peppers
SINS! –
Mike Rucker, Chris Gamble, Richard Marshall
Hellno! –
Dan Morgan (RETIRE ALREADY!)
Game notes:
Move along, nothing to see here. Even fans of these teams don’t want to watch this mess.
Minnesota
@
Green Bay
Sunday 10am PST
Minnesota
Giddyup! –
Antoine Winfield (currently probable), Cedric Griffin, EJ Henderson
SINS! –
Darren Sharper, Ray Edwards
Hellno! –
Erasmus James
Green Bay
Giddyup! –
Nick Barnett, AJ Hawk, Atari Bigby, Aaron Kampman
SINS! –
Brady Poppinga, Charles Woodson, Cullen Jenkins, KGB
Hellno! –
Nick Collins, Al Harris
Game notes:
This is going to be a real interesting matchup. The underrated Packers D gets a crack at rookie superstar Adrian Peterson, who is coming off setting the all time single game rushing record. Pretty damn impressive. Look for the Pack to air it out, which should mean huge games for Winfield and
Griffin
. Winfield is probable, and him at 80% is better than most IDP DB’s at 100%, no doubt about it. For the Pack I like all the guys who have to try to tackle AD, and I like Kampman vs the side of the Vikes line that gives it up like a fat girl at a keg party.
Denver
@
Kansas City
Sunday 10am PST
Denver
Giddyup! –
DJ Williams, Champ Bailey
SINS! –
Elvis Dumervil, Ian Gold, Nate Webster
Hellno! –
Simeon “pink slip” Rice
KC
Giddyup! –
Donnie Edwards, Nap Harris, Derrick Johnson, Jared Allen
SINS! –
Bernard Pollard, Jarrad Page
Hellno! –
Ty Law
Game notes:
Denver
is reeling right now, and coming into this one potentially without Javon, Cutler AND Henry. Ouch. Look for the Chiefs to take advantage. For Denver DJ should be solid even with no LJ on the other side, and Champ will bounce back and forth between covering Bowe and Gonzo, so he should be plenty busy. On the Chiefs side of the ball Jared Allen should go nuts against a sub-par line, and the LB’s should be solid for you.
Buffalo @ Miami
Sunday
10am PST
Buffalo
Giddyup! –
Angelo Crowell, Aaron Schobel, Terrance McGee
SINS! –
Donte Whitner
Hellno! –
John DiGiorgio
Miami
Giddyup! –
Jason Taylor
SINS! –
Channing Crowder, Matt Roth
Hellno! –
Zach Thomas
Game notes:
This is going to be another ugly game, really only watchable if you are a
Buffalo
fan who hates them some Dolphins. This could be the big blow up week Schobel owners have been waiting for, and Crowell should be an IDP factor. For
Miami
, Crowder
should be huge, but every time Thomas is out and I predict a big one for Crowder he gets 4 or 5 tackles, so you are on your own there.
St Louis
@
New Orleans
Sunday 10am PST
STL
Giddyup! –
OJ Atogwe, Will Witherspoon, Tye Hill
SINS! –
Clifton
Ryan, Corey Chaveous
Hellno! –
Leonard Little
NO
Giddyup! –
Jason David, Roman Harper, Will Smith
SINS! –
Josh Bullucks, Scott Fujita
Hellno! –
Charles Grant
Game notes:
This one should be a real aerial show, as neither team has a secondary worth a damn. I expect lots of points, and lots of tackles for your DB’s. I’m less excited about Witherspoon if it turns out it will be Stecker and Thomas instead of Bush, but it sounds like Bush will play.
Cleveland
@
Pittsburgh
Sunday 10am PST
Cleveland
Giddyup! –
Sean Jones
,
Leon
Williams, Leigh Bodden, Eric Wright
SINS! –
Andra Davis, Kamerion Wimbley
Hellno! –
Orpheous Roye
Pittsburgh
Giddyup! –
Ike Taylor,
Troy
Polamalu, James Harrison, James Farrior
SINS! –
Anthony Smith
Hellno! –
Lawrence
Timmons
Game notes:
I think this might be a much better game than anyone thinks it will be. Derek Anderson is clutch, and I don’t think
Cleveland
will win, but they will put up a hell of a fight in my opinion. Both teams are vulnerable through the air, and both teams’ QB’s and WR’s are HOT, so I like all the DB’s in this affair.
Jacksonville
@
Tennessee
Sunday 10am PST
Jacksonville
Giddyup! –
Mike Peterson, Reggie Nelson
SINS! –
Rashean Mathis, Daryl Smith
Hellno! –
Justin Durant, Clint Ingram
Tennessee
Giddyup! –
Kyle Vanden Bosch
SINS! –
Keith Bulluck, Chris Hope, Nick Harper
Hellno! –
Albert Haynesworth
Game notes:
I couldn’t possibly care less about this game.
Tennessee
has to be the crappiest team with the best record in the league right now, and
Jacksonville
is just God awful when Garrard isn’t on the field. Pray for a MJD vs Lendale showdown, as neither passing attack is worth squat. If the running games heat up we might even see some production out of (gasp!) Keith Bulluck and Chris Hope. Dare to dream!
Philadelphia
@
Washington
Sunday 10am PST
Philly
Giddyup! –
Trent Cole
SINS! –
Brian Dawkins, Omar Gaither, Takeo Spikes, Lito Sheppard
Hellno! –
Kearse/Howard, Sheldon Brown
Washington
Giddyup! –
Rocky McIntosh,
London
Fletcher, LaRon Landry
SINS! –
Sean Taylor, Shawn Springs, Andre Carter
Hellno! –
Fred Smoot, Phillip Daniels
Game notes:
For the Eagles, their IDP scene is much like the offense, one stud and a whole lot of head scratchers. Trent Cole is as solid as a DL can be, and outside of that there isn’t anyone I would want to have to count on here. Gaither is a nice sleeper LB this week after seeing what David Harris pulled off vs Portis. For the Skins I am not as high on Sean Taylor as a lot of other “experts” are this week, as though McNabb hasn’t been the stud McNabb of old, he just doesn’t throw a lot of picks. When
Taylor
isn’t getting picks he isn’t likely to help your team much, as the tackles are usually gobbled up by the stud LB’s and the young hitting machine they have at SS. In fact, I’d rather start Landry if I were to start a Skins DB, no doubt about it.
Cincinnati
@
Baltimore
Sunday
1:05pm PST
Cincy
Giddyup! –
Madieu Williams, Landon Johnson
SINS! –
Jonathan Joseph, Robert Geathers
Hellno! –
Justin Smith
Baltimore
Giddyup! –
Terrell Suggs
SINS! –
Bart Scott, Ray Lewis
Hellno! –
Ed Reed
Game notes:
This is a must win for both teams, and as division rivals I think both teams will leave it all on the field. Unfortunately neither team has been an IDP hotbed this season. For the Ravens that is especially depressing. The days of plugging in Ray and Ed are gone gone gone my friends. I feel old. Ray is a marginal LB at best, and Ed Reed isn’t startable at all.
Detroit
@
Arizona
Sunday
1:15pm PST
Detroit
Giddyup! –
Ernie Sims,
Paris
Lenon, Fernando Bryant
SINS! –
Gerald Alexander, Corey Smith, Shaun Rogers
Hellno! –
Kalimba Edwards, Dewayne White
Arizona
Giddyup! –
Calvin Pace
SINS! –
Adrian Wilson, Terrance Holt, Rod Hood, Karlos Dansby (check the injury reports and make sure he doesn’t have a setback), Calvin Pace
Hellno! –
Monty Beisel
Game notes:
I am actually quite excited for this one. I’m hoping by downgrading Adrian Wilson he will finally break out of his funk to spite me. I can hope, right?
Wilson
has been useless lately, and he isn’t healthy. The Cards DB’s should be busy, and last week marked the return to IDP relevance of Antrel Rolle. He could be a nice fill in for a CB required league, he should be on your wire unless his mom is in the league with you.
Dallas @ New York Giants Sunday 1:15pm PST
Dallas
Giddyup! –
Demarcus Ware, Roy Williams
SINS! –
Terrance Newman, Anthony Henry, Bradie James
Hellno! –
Tank Johnson
NY
Giddyup! –
Gibril Wilson, Antonio Pierce, Giants DL’s
SINS! –
Matthias Kiwanuka, Aaron Ross, Kawicka Mitchell
Hellno! –
Sam Madison
Game notes:
This will be one of the better games of the day in my opinion. As far as the IDP’s are concerned there are a lot of big names involved here, start the usual suspects on both sides. If you need a CB this week I like the prospects of Aaron Ross against Romo and the boys.
Chicago
@
Oakland
Sunday
1:15pm PST
Chicago
Giddyup! –
Lance Briggs, Tommie Harris
SINS! –
Brian Urlacher, Charles Tillman, Mark Anderson
Hellno! –
Nathan Vasher
Oakland
Giddyup! –
Kirk Morrison, Thomas Howard, Michael Huff
SINS! –
Stuart Schweigart, Warren Sapp
Hellno! –
Raiders DE’s
Game notes:
Yay! My team will be 2-7 after this week! WHEEEEEEE! Move on.
Indianapolis
@
San Diego
Sunday
5:15pm PST
Indy
Giddyup! –
Bob Sanders, Gary Brackett, Marlin Jackson
SINS! –
Freddy Keiaho (check the injury reports), Mathis/Freeney, Kelvin Hayden
Hellno! –
Tyjuan Hagler
SD
Giddyup! –
Stephen Cooper, Marlon McCree, Drayton
Florence
SINS! –
Antonio Cromartie, Shawne Merriman
Hellno! –
Quentin Jammer, Shaun Phillips
Game notes:
For Indy the LB’s are all gimpy, but as long as Brackett and Keiaho are playing you should probably start them vs LT. Jammer and Phillips are out for San Diego, and since it looks like Marvin will either be out or a shell of what healthy Marvin is, that means Florence will be on Wayne, giving him a great matchup. Super soph Cromartie will be playing on the other side, and if the Chargers are smart they will put him on Dallas Clark and let Weddle or some other scrub cover Moorehead. Not like it takes much to cover him.
San Francisco
@
Seattle
Monday
5:30pm PST
SF
Giddyup! –
Pat Willis, Marques Douglas, Nate Clements
SINS! –
Walt Harris, Derek Smith, Michael Lewis
Hellno! –
Bryant Young, Brandon Moore
Seattle
Giddyup! –
Julian Peterson, Lofa Tatupu, Marcus Trufant
SINS! –
Leroy Hill, Deon Grant, Darryl Tapp
Hellno! –
Pat Kerney
Game notes:
*Ahem* FLEX SCHEDULING!!!! What a rotten Monday Night game. Other than having Darryl Tapp (who I am not expecting a huge game out of) in a couple of leagues and Marques Douglas in another I have no interest in this game whatsoever. I really don’t know why they couldn’t flip this with the Cowboys Giants game or the Vikings Packers game instead of forcing this monstrosity uopon us all after a tough day of work. Start the LB’s and the #1 CB’s in this one and then go wash your eyes out with soap.
That’s about it for week 10. Good luck in all your IDP leagues this week, we are headed down the home stretch! Thanks for stopping by and see you next week!
