The Hive – week 9

The Hive – Week 9 edition

Welcome back to The Hive! Week 8 brought about the arrival of David Harris, Julius Peppers sucking eggs, and a big bounce back week for Barrett Ruud. But readers of The Hive weren’t caught off guard by any of the three, were they? Let’s get to the week 9 action!

How we rank `em!

Giddyup! – YEEEHAW!!

SINS! – solid if not spectacular

Hellno! – Get it? Got it? Good.

San Diego

@

Minnesota

Sunday 10am PST

San Diego

Giddyup! –

Stephen Cooper, Matt Wilhelm

SINS! –

Chargers DB’s, Shawne Merriman

Hellno! –

Jamal Williams

Minnesota

Giddyup! –

EJ Henderson, Antoine Winfield

SINS! –

Cedric Griffin, Darren Sharper,

Chad

Greenway

Hellno! –

Vikes DL’s

Game notes:

For

San Diego

, don’t expect a repeat of Antonio Cromartie’s heroics last week, but the playmaking DB is definitely one to watch. I do like Cooper and Wilhelm vs Adrian Peterson this week though. As for

Minnesota

their two best run stoppers are Henderson and Winfield, so I’d say they are your best plays vs LT.

Jacksonville

@

New Orleans

Sunday 10am PST

Jacksonville

Giddyup! –

Mike Peterson, Sammy Knight

SINS! –

Daryl Smith, Rashean Mathis

Hellno! –

Clint Ingram

New Orleans

Giddyup! –

Roman Harper, Charles Grant

SINS! –

Josh Bullocks, Will Smith, Scott Fujita

Hellno! –

Saints CB’s

Game notes:

Reggie Bush should be good to go in this one, so Mike Peterson is a strong play. Sammy Knight will probably be fired up to play his old team. No real other stud plays for the Jags. For

New Orleans

I like Roman Harper to come up and try to stuff the run (since Quinn Gray is horrible), he should be huge this week.

Washington

@ New York Jets Sunday

10am PST

Washington

Giddyup! –

Sean Taylor,

London

Fletcher, Rocky McIntosh

SINS! –

Shawn

Springs

, Andre Carter, LaRon Landry

Hellno! –

Carlos Rogers

New York

Giddyup! –

Kerry Rhodes, David Harris, Kenyon Coleman

SINS! –

Abram Elam, Eric Barton, Andre Dyson

Hellno! –

Erik Coleman, David Barrett

Game notes:

This could be an interception laden affair, with 1st year started Jason Campbell going against 1st year starter Kellen Clemens. Sean Taylor and Kerry Rhodes could each have a field day. Abram

Elam

is holding on to the strong safety job, and Mangini really likes the kid so I think it is for good. Considering the kind of points that Erik Coleman used to put up there,

Elam

could end up being IDP gold. I called him the Atari Bigby of the AFC, and this could be the week he shows it. And finally, congrats to all of you who either were patient enough to hold on to David Harris or fast enough to get him off the wire. He is going to go ballistic for the rest of the year.

Arizona

@

Tampa

Bay

Sunday 10am PST

Arizona

Giddyup! –

Adrian Wilson, Darnell Dockett

SINS! –

Calvin Pace, Gerald Hayes, Rod Hood

Hellno! –

Karlos Dansby

Tampa

Bay

Giddyup! –

Barrett Ruud, Derrick Brooks, Jermaine Phillips

SINS! –

Ronde Barber, Phillip Buchanon, Tanard Jackson

Hellno! –

Greg Spires

Game notes:

Adrian Wilson looks good to go this week, get him back in your lineup. Darnell Dockett looks to rebound after a couple of down weeks. I like this matchup for him. For

Tampa

, Ruud bounced back nicely last week, and LB’s usually score really, really well vs Edgerrin. Don’t get caught with Ruud or Derrick Brooks or run stuffing safety Jermaine Phillips on your bench this week.

San Francisco

@

Atlanta

Sunday 10am PST

San Francisco

Giddyup! –

Marques Douglas, Pat Willis, Nate Clements

SINS! –

Michael Lewis, Walt Harris, Derek Smith

Hellno! –

Brandon Moore

Atlanta

Giddyup! –

Keith Brooking, Michael Boley

SINS! –

John Abraham, Jamaal Anderson, Lawyer Milloy, Deangelo Hall

Hellno! –

Demorrio Williams, Stephen Nicholas

Game notes:

The Falcons and Niners both go into week 9 with their respective coaches pumping the media full of lip service about how they are going to commit to the run. Good news for all the LB’s in this one if the coaches were serious. Marques

Douglas

vs the pathetic patchwork Falcons line should be fun as well.

Cincinnati

@

Buffalo

Sunday 10am PST

Cincy

Giddyup! –

Madieu Williams, Landon Johnson

SINS! –

Jonathan Joseph, Justin Smith, Robert Geathers

Hellno! –

Leon Hall, Deltha O’Neal

Buffalo

Giddyup! –

Terrance McGee, Donte Whitner

SINS! –

Bills LB’s, Bills DL’s

Hellno! –

Jim Leonhard

Game notes:

Gotta like all the DB’s in this one, especially McGee and Madieu. Not too excited about anyone else here IDP wise, but this should be quite the aerial display in my opinion.

Denver

@

Detroit

Sunday 10am PST

Denver

Giddyup! –

Champ Bailey, Elvis Dumervil

SINS! –

DJ Williams, Dre Bly, Nick Ferguson

Hellno! –

John Lynch

Detroit

Giddyup! –

Paris

Lenon, Ernie Sims

SINS! –

DeWayne White, Gerald Alexander, Fernando Bryant

Hellno! –

Kalimba Edwards

Game notes:

Not terribly excited about the Broncos LB’s this week, but I think Elvis Dumervil will have a really good game. With the news that Henry will play for Denver and considering how pathetic that passing game is without Javon Walker I think the Lions LB’s will score big, as Denver will have to run a lot if they want to have a chance to win.

Carolina

@

Tennessee

Sunday 10am PST

Carolina

Giddyup! –

Chris Harris, Julius Peppers, Jon Beason

SINS! –

Chris Gamble, Richard Marshall, Thomas Davis, Mike Rucker

Hellno! –

Dan Morgan

Tennessee

Giddyup! –

Kyle Vanden Bosch, Nick Harper

SINS! –

Keith Bulluck, Chris Hope

Hellno! –

Antwan Odom

Game notes:

I told you all to sit Peppers last week. If you didn’t listen you have no one to blame but yourself. I’m telling you to start him this week. Don’t come crying to me on Monday if you ignore me again. For the Titans I think Vanden Bosch will slap David Carr, and I like Nick Harpers chances at a pick.

Green Bay

@

Kansas City

Sunday

10am PST

Green Bay

Giddyup! –

Nick Barnett, AJ Hawk, Atari Bigby, Aaron Kampman

SINS! –

Brady Poppinga, Charles Woodson

Hellno! –

Al Harris

Kansas City

Giddyup! –

Donnie Edwards, Jared Allen, Napoleon Harris, Jarrad Page

SINS! –

Bernard Pollard, Derrick Johnson

Hellno! –

Patrick Surtain

Game notes:

Aaron Kampman was ridiculous on MNF, and I cant wait to see who comes out on top between him and fellow super stud DE Jared Allen. I like all the LB’s in this game as well. And for KC watch out for Jarrad Page and Bernard Pollard, both could be huge this week. I like Page better vs the Pack, as he is the better playmaker against the pass.

Seattle

@

Cleveland

Sunday

1:05pm PST

Seattle

Giddyup! –

Lofa Tatupu, Julian Peterson

SINS! –

Marcus Trufant, Deon Grant, Leroy Hill, Daryl Tapp

Hellno! –

Brian Russell

Cleveland

Giddyup! –

Sean Jones

,

Leon

Williams, Eric Wright, Leigh Bodden

SINS! –

Kamerion Wimbley, Andra Davis

Hellno! –

 D’Qwell

Jackson

Game notes:

For

Seattle

I like the LB’s, and the DB’s should be solid against Braylon and Winslow. I don’t think Tapp will have the same ridiculous game he had before the bye, but I do like him as a 2nd half DL sleeper. For the Browns they will be without their best LB, D’Qwell Jackson, so Davis and Williams will start at the ILB spots. I’d rather start Williams of the two.

Houston

@

Oakland

Sunday

1:15pm PST

Houston

Giddyup! –

Demeco Ryans, Mario Williams

SINS! –

Amobi Okoye, Dunta Robinson, CC Brown, Von Hutchins

Hellno! –

Danny Clark

Oakland

Giddyup! –

Kirk Morrison, Thomas Howard

SINS! –

Michael Huff, Warren Sapp

Hellno! –

Derrick Burgess

Game notes:

This should be the week Mario Williams blows up. Demeco should be his usual self, and for the Raiders I wouldn’t really want to start anyone outside of Morrison and Howard.

New England

@

Indianapolis

Sunday

1:15pm PST

New England

Giddyup! –

Adalius Thomas,

Asante

Samuel

SINS! –

Rodney Harrison, Mike Vrabel

Hellno! –

Eugene Wilson

Indianapolis

Giddyup! –

Bob Sanders, Marlin Jackson, Kelvin Hayden

SINS! –

Gary Brackett, Freddy Keiaho (if he plays)

Hellno! –

Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis

Game notes:

Play all the DB’s in this one and none of the DL’s. That’s about all I have to say, if you are still craving more coverage of this game you must either have the short term memory of a goldfish or you’ve just woken from a coma. Either way, welcome!

Dallas

@

Philadelphia

Sunday

5:15pm PST

Dallas

Giddyup! –

Roy Williams, Demarcus Ware

SINS! –

Terrance Newman, Bradie James

Hellno! –

Greg Ellis

Philly

Giddyup! –

Trent Cole, Omar Gaither

SINS! –

Takeo Spikes, Eagles DB’s

Hellno! –

Kearse/Howard

Game notes:

For

Dallas

I like Roy Williams, and McNabb has been pretty sackable, which should bode well for Ware. For Phiilly, it looks like Dawkins will be back, but its expected that he will share time with Mikell. DBBC? Ugh. Trent Cole is on fire, keep playing him.

Baltimore

@

Pittsburgh

Monday

5:30pm PST

Baltimore

Giddyup! –

Ray Lewis, Bart Scott

SINS! –

Kelly Gregg, Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed

Hellno! –

Chris McCallister

Pittsburgh

Giddyup! –

Anthony Smith, James Harrison, James Farrior

SINS! –

Troy Polamalu, Ike Taylor

Hellno! –

Aaron Smith, Ryan Clark

Game notes:

For the Ravens you have to think ol’ Ray can muster up a serious number of tackles, and I think Scott will join him. Not too excited about anyone else there. For the Steelers hopefully Anthony Smith showed the coaches what many of us already thought, that Ryan Clark is the one who belongs on the bench. Smith will start again based on

Clarks

spleen injury, and we will have to see what goes down when

Clark

is healthy again.

That’s it for this week. Good luck in all your IDP matchups this week, and we will see you back here for the week 10 action!
