THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 1

Welcome my fantasy brethren to another edition of The Prognosticator, may it light up your night sky. And away we gooo! Week 1 is here and we here at Fantasy Sharks couldn’t be more excited about it. There are a lot of questions to be answered this week, foremost is, did we actually draft a good team or not?!? It’s time to see if the proof is in the pudding. Enjoy the games this week!

How to read the table: The table shows how a team will do Passing and Rushing in the upcoming week of the NFL. Red is HOT, Yellow is WARM, White is NORMAL, Light Blue is COLD and Dark Blue is FREEZING COLD. Play players from teams that are Red and Yellow, avoid players from teams that are Light or Dark Blue and expect average days from teams that are White.

All times are Eastern

Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles – Thursday 8:20pm
Let the season begin! While the Falcons are improved and the Super Bowl Champion Eagles seem to be floundering, it is too early to pass the torch. Atlanta will throw the ball with efficiency, as will the Eagles. The difference maker and why this game swings the Eagles way is the unit that people aren’t talking about, the Eagles high flying and deadly defense. Atlanta will find it hard to run on Thursday night and because the Eagles take their ground game away, it changes everything for Atlanta where they end up struggling to put up points.

Cincinnati Bengals at Indianapolis Colts – Sunday 1:00pm
While everyone will be tuning in to watch Andrew Luck to T.Y. Hilton and Andy Dalton to A.J. Green, the real stars will be a surprising Joe Mixon and Giovanni Bernard as well as Jordan Wilkins and Christine Michael. Both teams are going to run hard and run well and many will regret not having the ground games in their lineups as that is where the stats will pour from. Expect a low scoring game because of it and for Joe Mixon to look particularly good, though Wilkins and Michael will make the better tandem.

Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins – Sunday 1:00pm
Poor Miami, just about everyone is picking them to be the worst team in football this year. Well you know what? They start off their supposed upcoming horrible season with a win! Miami is at home and it’s tough to play Miami at home; particularly a team like the Titans that don’t travel well. The biggest surprise is how good Ryan Tannehill looks with his receivers. That’s right, that Ryan Tannehill. If you want to beat your league to the waiver wire punch, pick him up this week and look like an absolute fantasy yoda genius on Monday morning. Big day on tap for Kenny Stills. That’s right, that Kenny Stills.

Houston Texans at New England Patriots – Sunday 1:00pm
With the Patriots opening up at home, this is going to be a rather one-sided affair in favor of the Patriots. Their offense will be humming on all cylinders as everyone gets in on the fun. Expect a solid day from Tom Brady. Houston will show a lot of rust, will have receivers running wrong routes and in general, just won’t look in synch. Not yet anyway. While not one soul is talking about the Patriots’ defense going into Week 1, they are going to look a lot better than how they started the season last year.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns – Sunday 1:00pm
I want to believe in the Browns.. I really do. I want them to be the feel-good story of the decade if they can somehow come out of this season with a winning record but one look at their schedule is all it takes to make you wonder if there really is any hope in their hills? The Browns will play some hard-nosed smash-mouth football when on offense and they will grind out their yards against a tough Steeler defense but everything unravels when you put Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster on the field as running mates. The Browns don’t have an answer for either one. It could be a record pacing day for Ben Roethlisberger in this one as the Steelers receivers work the seams and almost always find a gap.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Giants – Sunday 1:00pm
The Giants are at home but that’s the one and only thing they have going for them. The Jaguars are favored by just 3 points but it should really be 13. Expect the Jaguars defense to stifle everything the Giants try and do while the Jaguars offense looks all-world. The Jaguars are going to be very, very good this year.
