Welcome my fantasy brethren to another edition of The Prognosticator, may it bide your time.
As per usual, there will be some surprises this week that everyone should be prepared for. It’s easy to say, “Adrian Peterson will run well” so let’s try these gems on for size instead:
Brian Hoyer may not win the game but he’ll look really good trying. Rex Ryan could gain positive yards if he suited up at RB for the Bills, that’s how big the holes to run through will be. Welcome back Eddie Lacy, man, did we miss you. Carlos Hyde, too. You started strong and then had to deal with 8 or 9 in the box while defenses dared Kaepernick to throw. It’s nice to have you back too this week my man. Chip Kelly shook his Magic 8-Ball and it came up as, “Most Definitely.” Tom Brady is sick. OK.. that was one of the obvious ones.
Have a good week everyone! May all your starters bloom.
How to read the table: The table shows how a team will do Passing and Rushing in the upcoming week of the NFL. Red is HOT, Yellow is WARM, White is NORMAL, Light Blue is COLD and Dark Blue is FREEZING COLD. Play players from teams that are Red and Yellow, avoid players from teams that are Light or Dark Blue and expect average days from teams that are White.
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints – Thursday 8:25pm
This is going to turn into a “barn burner.” The Saints will be passing at will on the Falcons and the Falcons will answer in kind. There will be some big numbers from both passing games. For rushing, you stick with the Falcons as Devonta Freeman has been off the charts. Where this game is settled however is with the Falcons defensive front. They’re a hard unit to run on and that will show as the Saints will be forced into throwing the ball to their running backs instead of trying to pound it up the gut which will put pressure on Atlanta’s linebacking crew to save the day.

Prediction: Atlanta Falcons 37 – New Orleans Saints 27
Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills – Sunday 1:00pm
The Bengals have been red hot and you shouldn’t be afraid to continue to play this offense, even if this game is in Buffalo against a stingy defense. The Bills defense has continued to get better and they really are a tough matchup for anyone. But the Bengals have some serious mojo heading into this one and that will continue to guide them. Jeremy Hill will once again be a touchdown dependent play as it is tough to move the Bills around on the inside.
Buffalo has been the walking wounded but now it sounds like Tyrod Taylor may be able to go and Sammy Watkins should be back which is a boost. As of this writing, LeSean McCoy sounds to still be a week or two away, Karlos Williams has been firmly in concussion protocol since Week 4 which leaves the running to Boobie Dixon and Dan “Boom” Herron. The surprise is that it almost doesn’t matter who you have running the ball, they’ll run well here. For you DFS players, Herron makes a high risk/high reward play if you’re feeling lucky and only have a few thousand left to spend.

Washington Redskins at New York Jets – Sunday 1:00pm
You want to steer around this contest in fantasy as the matchups are abysmal. The only player on the field worth a mention is Chris Ivory and maybe Brandon Marshall, after them, tread very carefully. This is at the Jets who have a defense no one in their right mind would want to play and the Jets can produce just enough with Ivory and Brandon Marshall with what’s turned into a productive Ryan Fitzpatrick, to secure this victory. Don’t look now, but the Jets are nipping at the Patriots heels in the AFC East, that’s how good they’ve actually been.
Favorite: New York Jets by 5.5
Prediction: New York Jets 27 – Washington Redskins 20
Denver Broncos at Cleveland Browns – Sunday 1:00pm
The Browns won’t be as bad as some may think here. Yes, the Broncos defense is stifling, but the Broncos are on the road against a Browns offense that has been playing very well when they pass the ball. I wouldn’t want to start a Cleveland running back for rushing yards but I also wouldn’t over react and bench Josh McCown as the Browns have done a nice job isolating an open receiver. Whether that’s Duke Johnson, Andrew Hawkins, Travis Benjamin or Brian Hartline it will always be a carousel because it comes down to who the opposing defense doesn’t focus on that will see the majority of the targets.
While everyone discredits the Broncos due to the suddenly “old looking” Peyton Manning, they are 5-0 and at this pace, will likely win their division. It has been primarily due to their defense but the Broncos can still play on offense, too. The Browns give up a lot of points and they will in this one too, it will be a nice day for your Broncos in general.

Prediction: Denver Broncos 34 – Cleveland Browns 30
Miami Dolphins at Tennessee Titans – Sunday 1:00pm
What you’ll see is a deflated and defeated Dolphins team as the Titans run through them on their way to a fairly easy victory. After this week, every Dolphins player in fantasy won’t be worth a roster slot. It will be that bad.

Prediction: Tennessee Titans 30 – Miami Dolphins 17
