The Prognosticator – Week 7

Welcome my fantasy brethren to another edition of The Prognosticator, may it only roll a 7 on the come out roll. Happy Week 7 to everyone! I thought I’d put to rest the debate about which remaining undefeated team has the best chance at “running the table” on their way to an undefeated season. With the Patriots, Bengals, Broncos, Panthers and Packers all currently undefeated it’s the Green Bay Packers that have the easiest road from a strength of schedule standpoint. We are going to find out in a hurry though since there are three games on their schedule that loom large. After their bye week this week, they first face the Broncos and then the Panthers, both games away from Lambeau field. If they get through those two unscathed, which is a big “if”, there’s just a showdown with the Cardinals late in December that could throw a wrench into their plans.

How to read the table: The table shows how a team will do Passing and Rushing in the upcoming week of the NFL. Red is HOT, Yellow is WARM, White is NORMAL, Light Blue is COLD and Dark Blue is FREEZING COLD. Play players from teams that are Red and Yellow, avoid players from teams that are Light or Dark Blue and expect average days from teams that are White.

All times are Eastern

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers – Thursday 8:25pm
I had to write this article on Friday this week so this game has already been played. I would have expected just a little more from the 49’ers on the ground. The Seahawks did a nice job of bottling up the 49’ers all night long.

Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars – Sunday 9:30am
This one has the making of a high scoring affair as the Bills will roll on the ground and the Jaguars will answer in the air. It’s a really nice day for LeSean McCoy and anyone involved in the Jaguars passing game. Blake Bortles makes a nice spot start this week if you are in need.

New Orleans Saints at Indianapolis Colts – Sunday 1:00pm
The Colts are getting better and will win their division without much competition. New Orleans can throw the ball, we know this, expect Drew Brees to rock and roll up top but where this falls the Colts way, is just how horrid the Saints defense is right now. For as good as Brees will be getting Brandin Cooks involved, Andrew Luck and Frank Gore both will be able to do what they wish with the Saints.

Houston Texans at Miami Dolphins – Sunday 1:00pm
I got Miami wrong. Dan Campbell can coach my team anytime. What an impressive job turning that locker room around and making football fun again. Sincerely, “way to go” Dan. Fantasy wise I much prefer the Texans here, it will be a tricky day for your usual suspects from the Dolphins but Brian Hoyer in a pinch actually works here. Arian Foster and DeAndre Hopkins of course find your starting lineup. Don’t neglect Hoyer if you’re looking for a bye week filler.

New York Jets at New England Patriots – Sunday 1:00pm
I think folks underestimate just how good the Jets defense is and also how good Chris Ivory can be. There are going to be a lot of bruised and battered Patriot defenders at the end of this one. This game is at Gillette and that makes it a difficult game for the Jets to win but they will keep it closer than the 9 points (now 8) that the Patriots are favored by. I worry here fantasy wise as the Patriots are going to have to manufacture points. There is an opportunity for Dion Lewis as the Patriots love the screen plays to running backs, tight ends, and wideouts and we’ll see a lot of them here. It’s how the Patriots get around defenses that have big fronts and keep it in front of teams with amazing cornerbacks — like the Jets have. Give Chris Ivory the start but be careful with the rest.
