The Rookie Report

everyone to the fourteenth regular season installment to the Rookie
Report. In case you missed the report earlier
this season, the report will cover topics, trends and a game by game analysis
of notable performances by the NFL’s 2007 Rookie Class to assist in your
pursuit of dynasty championship gold.

numerous different happenings occurring this week, this week’s report will
provide a recap of rookie related news and offer analysis into each situation.

So sit
back, but don’t get too comfortable because here we go with our twelfth regular
season week’s installment of this report.…

RB Adrian Peterson – Minnesota Vikings

Peterson returned from his injury in Week 13 as if he did not miss a beat. Peterson finished the game 7.7 yards per
carry and 126 total yards on 16 touches.
Despite missing 2 weeks, Adrian Peterson appears to be a shoe-in for the
Rookie of the Year award with 1,427 total yards through Week 13. Despite this quest, Peterson turned in a sub
par performance with 14 carries for 3 yards.

RB Marshawn Lynch – Buffalo Bills

Lynch returned this week from his high ankle sprain injury. Lynch had a good return against a favorable
matchup in Miami
totaling 107 rushing yards on 23 carries.
Barring any setbacks, Lynch should be ready to contribute to fantasy
owners in the final playoff weeks.

RB Darius Walker – Houston Texans

Houston Texans put RB Ahman Green on the Injured Reserve list this week.Ron Dayne took over the starting job, and
rookie Darius Walker is expected to be the backup running back for the
remainder of 2007. With the Texans
playoff hopes out the window, it would not be a surprise to see the Texans give
Darius Walker a look as the team’s starter in the final couple games of the
season to assess their offseason needs. In
Week 14, Darius Walker received extended action when Ron Dayne suffered a leg
injury which limited him for the remainder of the game. Walker
turned in 81 total yards on 21 touches.

RB Pierre Thomas – New Orleans Saints

With Reggie
Bush expected to miss the next few weeks and possibly the season, Pierre Thomas
stands to receive increase numbers of carries and looks for the remainder of
the season. Aaron Stecker is currently
starting; however, with the Saints’ playoff hopes gone, much like Darius
Walker’s situation above it would not be a surprise to see Thomas receive
extended looks and playing time for the remainder of the season.

RB Selvin Young/Andre Hall – Denver Broncos

Selvin Young and Andre Hall’s potential values were hampered this week with
Travis Henry winning his drug suspension appeal. Despite Henry winning his appeal, Selvin
Young started in Week 14 and turned in an impressive 156 rushing yards on 17
carries. If Travis Henry continues to be
ineffective as he has most of this season, Selvin Young will likely retain the
starting job as long as he can stay healthy.

WR Sidney Rice – Minnesota Vikings

Rice has scored a touchdown in 3 out of the past 4 years leading into Week 14
and appears to be developing into a solid target for Tarvaris Jackson.Unfortunately for Rice’s fantasy owners, the Minnesota passing
offense remains statistically one of the worst in the NFL. Despite Minnesota’s passing offense in 2007, Rice’s
long-term prospects remain bright as he has showcased his talent in recent

CB Fred Bennett – Houston Texans

Dunta Robinson’s season ending knee injury, Fred Bennett has emerged as a
playmaking cornerback for the Houston Texans as a rookie. In 4 games as the starter, Bennett totaled 18
tackles, 7 passes defended and 3 interceptions.
In Week 14, Bennett led the Houston Texans in tackles with 8 solo
tackles. Bennett’s combination of size,
quickness and speed continue to translate well to the NFL level, and with
questions surrounding Dunta Robinson’s return to the cornerback position after
recovering from his injury sometime in the middle of the 2008 season, early
indicators of Fred Bennett’s long-term potential in IDP leagues appear
