The Seadog Report

Greetings Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report! Well, fantasy football playoffs are getting cranked-up, and for those of us with IDPs,  there’s a lot of jockeying going on right now. Whether it’s off of the Waiver Wire or just picking a line-up, the search for the right player to play in each slot is getting a bit intense.

This past week’s Top Dawgs

DL Dwight Freeney IND Dwight, where have you been my friend? Very nice showing this week with 4 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. (Is it just me or does it seem like Freeney always gets a bulk of his stats towards the end of the year?) Anyways, it makes him worth consideration from here on out.

LB Donnie Edwards SD Another player that I have expected to have put up better numbers this year. 14 tackles, 6 assists, and 1 pass-defensed – now that’s the Donnie Edwards we know and love!

DB Charles Woodson OAK  Might as well round out the Top Dawgs with another “Oh defender, wherefore art thou?” (12 tackles, 1 assist, 3 pass-defensed, and 1 int

Seadog’s picks of the week

Okay, the season is winding down and some guys are doing very well and some not so well. I’m going to continue to share what I think are some of the stronger plays for this week, maybe some repeats from last week. There are certainly a lot of “ups and downs” in IDP-land even when playing some of the true IDP studs that are out there, so I’m going to lean a little heavier on the match-ups this week.

DL Rod Coleman ATL vs. Oakland  Coleman looks like he’s fully recovered from his earlier injuries and he’s playing with a vengeance. Look for him to do some damage against his old team this week.

DL Bert Berry ARI vs. San Francisco  Berry is leading the league in sacks. San Fran is terrible. Go, Bert, go!

DL Grant Wistrom SEA vs. Minnesota   I don’t know if last week was a fluke or not, but I think Wistrom is playing hard and watch him go after Duante this week.

DL Honorable mentions: Peppers vs. St. Louis; Kevin Williams vs. Seattle

LB James Farrior PIT vs. NYJ  Farrior has been a solid play all year; stick with him.

LB Terrell Suggs BAL vs. NYG  Suggs has been quietly putting up the sacks this year. This should be a good matchup for him this week against the G-men.

LB Greg Favors JAX vs. Chicago  Greg who? Well, I’m going out on a limb a bit with this one, but it’s a calculated gamble. Chicago is on the verge of setting the league record for sacks allowed. Favors is a pass-rushing specialist for the Jags. I’m betting he might get a couple of sacks.

LB Honorable mentions: Tedi Bruschi vs. Cincinnati; Keith Bullock vs. KC; Nick Barnett vs. Detroit

DB Sean Taylor WAS vs. Philadelphia  I mentioned Taylor last week, and he did pretty well. He should be pretty active against the Eagles.

DB Madieu Williams CIN vs. New England  This guy has got to be the candidate for defensive rookie of the year; Nothing but steady points from this young man.

DB Dunta Robinson HOU vs. Indianapolis  Going with my all rookie line-up here. Robinson has been getting picked-on lately, but he’s starting to really produce some pretty good numbers. I’ve got to believe that Peyton Manning will be throwing a lot in his direction this week.

DB Honorable mentions: Ed Reed vs. NYG; Charles Tillman vs. Jacksonville

That’s about it for this week. Remember, ALWAYS play Ray and Rodney – Thanks for reading!
