The Seadog Report

Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report! Week #9 is in the books as we head into the 2nd half of the season. Hopefully you are all on the right track with your IDP endeavors, it’s been interesting so far hasn’t it?

This past week’s Top Dawgs

DL Julius Peppers CAR  4 tackles, 1 assist, and 3 sacks.

LB Bart Scott BAL 10 tackles, 2 assists, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble.

DB Antoine Winfield MIN  11 tackles, 3 assists, 2 passes-defensed, and 1 int.

Seadog’s picks of the week

DL Indy DL’s vs. Houston Sounding like a broken record, but the Colt’s D-linemen had a field day a couple of weeks ago the first time they played the Texans.

DL Kalimba Edwards and James Hall DET vs. Arizona Edwards is iffy this week, but both these guys are coming off a strong performance last week and they should do well against the Cards.

DL Julius Peppers CAR vs. NY Jets For those of you patient enough to wait for Peppers to finally get rolling, I think now is the time.

LB Mike Vrabel NE vs. Miami Vrabel has been huge the past couple of weeks, largly, in my opinion, due to the return of Tedy Bruschi. Play him while he’s hot.

LB Nick Barnett GB vs. Atlanta Barnett in reality really isn’t that great an NFL linebacker comparatively, but that makes him a pretty good fantasy football linebacker. If you have to choose, he makes a good play this week.

LB D.D. Lewis SEA vs. St. Louis Sharper is hurt for Seattle and Lewis should be his replacement this week. If you need a pick-up off of waivers, he should be okay.

DB Chris Gamble CAR vs. NY Jets Okay, is this guy hurt, or not? I wasn’t paying attention, but suddenly Gamble has returned from injury and lit the world on fire. If you need a strong CB play this week, he’d be worth it.

DB Kelly Herndon SEA vs. St. Louis Another CB that has put up some very good numbers this year while flying a bit under the radar. He should be busy with Bulger returning for the Rams.

DB Ryan Clark WAS vs. Tampa Bay Another guy who should be pretty serviceable to get off the waiver wire for some help this week.

Well, that wraps up this segment of the Seadog Report. Now I’d like to introduce a new feature that we are going to bring you this year. As you may or may not know, a twelve team IDP-only league has been started this year in the Sharktank. We call it “The Wall”. It is comprised of some IDP veterans as well as some IDP “newbies”. Regardless as to IDP background, these guys all know their way around fantasy football and are showing it in this league. We’d like for you to follow along with us this year to perhaps glean some insight into the wonderful world of IDPs (plus, it will give you a good chance to make fun of yours truly)

The Wall Report

This week featured a huge clash between Dgack’s team and Team Seadog. Both came into the match sporting 5-3 records and both were coming off of 4-game winning streaks. In the end it was Dgack who came out on top as his team steamrolled over Team Seadog. Here’s the rundown for the week:

HAS A KILLER D (6-3) @ SEADOG (5-4)

Andre the Giant Has A Killer D, Dgack  188

Team Seadog, Seadog 145

-Dgack got big points out of Bullock and Briggs as well as CB Eric Warfield, while Vilma and Vrabel led the way for Seadog (Kirk Morrison – 3 points. Thanks a lot pal.)

LARCENY (4-4-1) @ DESTRUCTION (6-3)

Brooklyn Larceny, CleffedUp 139.5

Weapons of Mass Destruction, Paddler 114

-The Weapons of Mass Destruction team was cruising in this league, until this week when Cleffed’s Larceny Team was able to take them out. Shelton Quarles paved the way for Cleffed, while Nick Barnett was tops for Paddler’s team.

GBALLS (4-5) @ ROUGHNESS #42 (4-5)

Team GBalls, Gballs1  65

Necessary Roughness #42, Johnnyballgame 80.5

-Well, I wouldn’t say it’s the most convincing win, but JBG was able to right the ship this week by taking out Team Gballs. Antonio Pierce led for Gballs, while Daryl Smith was the top point getter for Team Ballgame (12 points Ouch!)

PANACHEVITZ (3-6) @ HULKAMANIACS! (7-1-1)

Not-so-Snazzy Panachevitz, Panachevitz 114

All-American Hulkamaniacs!, SJSwarm  127.5

-This contest was very close with Swarm’s team getting some good points out of Robert Mathis in Monday Night’s game to put him over the top for sure. Panachevitz got some good points from Gary Brackett, but came up just a little short.

BEARS (4-5) @ CHARGERS (3-6)

1985 Bears, SoCalIrishSports 172

lt1800’s Chargers, lt1800 141.5

-Despite a pretty good effort by the Charger team, the 1985 Bears proved to be too strong this week as they walked away with the victory. Mike Peterson was the main man for the Bears while Polamalu and Merriman had solid efforts for lt1800.

BUS (4-5) @ WRECKS (3-6)

The Hussy Bus, Hussy Bus 138

Deck’s Wrecks, Decktard 107.5

-The Hussy Bus team got back on the winning road again as they took out Team Decktard with a pretty convincing victory this week. Larry Foote helped pave the way for the Bus team while Zach Thomas (once again) came up huge for Team Decktard in a losing effort.

At 7-1-1, it looks like Team SJSwarm is the team to beat at the moment. Stay tuned for a good battle this week as they take on the hottest team in the league – Dgack’s “Andre the Giant has a killer D” team. It should be a good one.

And on that note, let me just mention – The Seadog is going to be away on vacation, so SJSwarm will be filling in for me the next couple of weeks. He knows what he’s talking about when it comes to IDPs, and some of you may be familiar with him from the IDP forums in the Sharktank. Tune in next week and hear what he has to say – it will be some good stuff.
