Greetings Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report. As I mentioned previously, this weekly article is going to be a work in progress, and thanks to our fine editor here at Fantasysharks, the Seadog Report is going to move in a slightly different direction than the previous versions. I appreciate your patience as we attempt to improve on this each week.
This past week’s Top Dawgs
DL Michael Strahan, Jevon Kearse, Rod Coleman are worthy considerations here, but this week’s Top Dawg goes to Patrick Kerney ATL. 7 tackles and 3 sacks is some awesome production from the DL slot.
LB This week’s Top Dawg at LB goes to David Thornton IND for his 8 tackle, 2 assist, 1 pass-defensed, 1 int performance against Green Bay this past week. Yowsa!
DB Tony Dixon DAL gets the Top Dawg award this week for his 6 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 pass-defensed, and 1 forced fumble against Washington. Nice!
Seadog’s Top picks of the week
Obviously a lot of these players mentioned here are worthy of “stud” consideration, but taking into account the various IDP schemes that are being used out there, sometimes it becomes choosing between the good and the better on your IDP roster. So, as I ease into this new format, perhaps you’ll indulge me by letting me point out a little bit of the obvious here.
DL Jevon Kearse PHI. Kearse seems to be getting better each week and, coming off of a 3 sack performance last week, I like his chances vs Chicago’s offensive line as they try to protect a new QB.
DL Ty Warren and Richard Seymour NE. One or both of these guys will have a very good day against a very poor offensive line in Buffalo.
DL New Orleans Saints. Charles Grant and company should have some very nice IDP statistics this week against the Arizona offensive line.
LB Joey Porter and Clark Haggans PIT. The Bungle’s offensive line has not looked very good to date and Porter has a history of putting up good numbers against them.
LB Nick Barnett GB. While Barnett hasn’t put up gaudy IDP numbers, he’s having a pretty good year, and I look for him to do some damage against the G-men.
LB David Thornton IND. While Jacksonville’s defense has been stellar this year, the offense is starting to show some signs of life. Thornton will be making tackles all over the place in this one.
DB Adam Archuleta StL. I don’t care what Martz says, he’s a lousy coach and the Rams are going nowhere fast. Archuleta is one of their best players on defense and I think he’ll show us something in the Sunday night spotlight.
DB Adrian Wilson ARI. Arizona is another team headed for a losing season, but they are playing tough. Wilson is steadily producing some very good IDP points this year and that trend will continue as New Orleans spends a lot of time in the Cardinal’s defensive back field.
DB Jermaine Phillips TB. Might be a bit of a reach here, but after missing week 1, he’s put up some decent numbers, and I expect the trend to continue this week.
