Greetings Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report! The regular season is drawing to an end and we’ll be wrapping up the Seadog Report the next couple of weeks. Week #16 is in the books and here’s a look at the Top Dawgs.
This past week’s Top Dawgs
DL Julius Peppers CAR 6 tackles, 2 assists, and 3 sacks.
DL James Hall DET 7 tackles, and 1 sack.
LB Donnie Edwards SD 17 tackles, 1 assist, and 1 sack.
LB Jonathan Vilma NYJ 13 tackles, 4 assists, and 0.5 int.
DB Ronde Barber TB 12 tackles, 1 assists.
DB Jordan Babineaux SEA 11 tackles, and 2 assists.
Seadog’s picks of the week
Well, it’s Week #17 and as much as I hate to make picks for the final week of the regular season, I know that many leagues are still going. So, I’ll give it a shot this week and try to focus on some good match-ups. (Please bear in mind that a lot of normal starting players will be sitting or seeing limited action this week so figure accordingly. Also, as of this writing, I haven’t double-checked the injury report so check that as well.)
DL Adawale Ogunleye CHI vs. Minnesota Ogunleye has poured it on the 2nd half of the season. All Chicago DL’s present a good match-up this week against the Vikes who have given up 54 sacks this year.
DL Demarcus Ware DAL vs. St. Louis Some leagues may have him listed as a LB, doesn’t matter. Play him this week as this is a good match-up and Dallas is still in the hunt.
DL Aaron Schobel BUF vs. John Abraham NYJ Yeah, that’s right, Schobel vs. Abraham. Neither team is playing for anything but pride. These two guys will be slugging it out statistically this week.
LB Jeremiah Trotter PHI vs. Washington I’m betting that Washington is going to run Portis a lot this week. Trotter is at his best when stopping the run.
LB Derek Smith SF vs. Houston Smith has averaged almost 10 tackles a week the past 3 weeks. This is a tough one, because both teams will probably tank it, but I’d take a shot with Smith this week because I think Houston, if anything, will look at the running game more than the passing game. Ugh!
LB Keith Brooking ATL vs. Carolina Brooking stepped it up a notch last week, and with Carolina in town fighting for a playoff spot, I think he’ll put up similar numbers again this week.
DB Terrance McGee BUF vs. NY Jets McGee seems to have recovered from his previous injury woes. I am playing him in a league this week, and I’m banking on him doing something big for me. (This is more of a hunch on my part, so take it for what it’s worth.)
DB Jordan Babineaux SEA vs. Green Bay The Seahawks will be sitting key players early on, but I think Babineaux will play a lot. He had good numbers last week. If you’re looking for a calculated reach, this might be a good one.
DB Adrian Wilson ARI vs. Indianapolis Wilson has been a stud all year, so recommending him this week isn’t all that great a revelation. This is a great match-up for him against a relatively inexperienced QB and I imagine he’ll be a force most of the game. If you are choosing between him and someone else, he’d be a good choice this week.
The Wall Report
Okay, faithful followers of our Wall League, we have our first Champion! It is none other than Dgack; whose Andre the Giant has a Killer D team battled it out in a regular slugfest with SJSwarm’s London Gentlemen and managed to come away the victor. It was so close, that the two teams were virtually tied at halftime of the Monday Night game. But, Dgack prevailed 146.5 to 139 for Swarm. Well deserved Dgack, well deserved.
Congratulations Dgack! 2005 Wall Champion
Thanks for reading everyone! I wish you all a safe and prosperous New Year!
