The Seadog Report

Greetings Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report! What another wild week in the wonderful world of fantasy football. I think I’m about ready to toss all my preseason predictions and expectations out the window. Okay, okay, it’s too early to throw in the towel just yet. Gotta stay the course; Gotta hang tough.

So, how is everyone doing out in IDP land? As you may or may not know picking IDPs can be very risky at times. Their point production typically isn’t as predictable as their counterparts on offense. Don’t forget the general rule of thumb for picking IDPs – when in doubt, always go with linebackers over defensive lineman or defensive backs if at all possible, because they will generally give you better point totals and scoring consistency.

This past week’s Top Dawgs

DL Bert Berry ARI This probably should have gone to John Abraham this week, again. But let’s let BB shine this week for his 5 tackle, 2 sack, 1 pass-defensed, 2 forced-fumbles, 1 fumble recovery performance against the 49ers.

LB London Fletcher BUF 15 tackles, 4 assists Wow!

DB Ed Reed BAL  He’s been coming around as of late so how about 6 tackle, 1 sack, 1 forced-fumble, 1 fumble recovery (for a TD) performance last week. Way to be Mr. Reed!

Seadog’s picks of the week

Obviously a lot of these players mentioned here are worthy of “stud” consideration, but taking into account the various IDP schemes that are being used out there, sometimes it becomes choosing between the good and the better on your IDP roster.

DL John Abraham NYJ vs. San Francisco  Abraham is on fire right now and you have to play him against this offensive line.

DL James Hall/Shaun Rogers DET vs. Green Bay  Hall has been very consistent this year and Rogers is coming off a great week last week. Look for them to do some damage this weekend.

DL Aaron Schobel BUF vs. Miami  Schobel hadn’t done much of anything this year – until last week. I’d take a shot with him this week going against a very poor Miami team.

LB Brian Urlacher CHI vs. Washington  I think Urlacher will be back this week, so look for him to tear it up against the Redskins this week.

LB Jamie Sharper HOU vs. Tennessee The Titans will try to pound it out with Chris Brown, so I expect the Houston linebackers to be very busy.

LB Mike Peterson JAX vs. Kansas City Peterson is quietly having a pretty good year, and look for him to get a lot of opportunities against Priest and the rest of the Chiefs.

DB Rodney Harrison NE vs. Seattle  Harrison got it cranked up a bit last week, and I look for him to build on that this week against the Seahawks.

DB Madieu Williams CIN vs. Cleveland  Williams is playing the entire defensive backfield it seems like for the Bengals. Let’s give him a shot this week.

DB Terrance Kiel SD vs. Atlanta  Absolutely no reason for this pick here. I’m just going with a gut feeling on Kiel against the Falcons on Sunday.
