Greetings Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report! We’re entering the halfway corner of the season, so how’s everyone doing? IDPs can be a real rollercoaster ride, can’t they? Just when you think you’ve found some consistency – whamo! You get a 1 or 2 tackle performance. Oh well, that’s life in the big city.
This past week’s Top Dawgs
DL Bryant Young SF Where did this guy come from this week? Let’s not get too carried away with Mr. Young, as San Fran is hurting along the defensive front. Someone needs to step it up for them. 10 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery is a great performance for a DT – let’s see if he can keep it going.
LB Joey Porter PIT Porter took full advantage of some Patriot woes and produced 5 tackles, 3 assists, 3 sacks, 1 pass-defensed, and 2 forced-fumbles. Anytime you see 3 sacks, you know it’s been a good week.
DB Rodney Harrison NE Give it up to Sir Rodney this week. Double-digit tackles are always impressive, but his 13 tackles and 8 assists is just insane. This guy just keeps on ticking!
Seadog’s picks of the week
Obviously a lot of these players mentioned here are worthy of “stud” consideration, but taking into account the various IDP schemes that are being used out there, sometimes it becomes choosing between the good and the better on your IDP roster.
DL John Abraham NYJ vs. Buffalo In the Oct. 10th game against Buffalo, Abraham had 6 tackles and 3 sacks. Ya gotta play Abraham this week against the “statue”. Ya just gotta.
DL Dwight Freeney IND vs. Minnesota He cranked it up a lot last week with a couple of sacks. Give him a shot this week.
DL Cornelius Griffin WAS vs. Detroit Mr. Steady Eddie should have a favorable match-up this week against the Lions.
LB Earl Holmes DET vs. Washington Holmes is putting up some very good IDP points lately. He should be active against Portis et. all
LB London Fletcher BUF vs. New York Jets The Jets are going to run Martin, so Fletcher should get his share. (In their earlier meeting this year against the Jets, Fletcher had 15 solo tackles and 6 assists!)
LB Jamie Winborn SF vs. Seattle If the Seahawks are going to run the ball the way they’ve been describing, the 49ers linebackers should be pretty active.
DB Rodney Harrison NE vs. St. Louis New England is hurting in the secondary. Harrison came up big last week and he’ll have to do it again this week.
DB Brian Dawkins PHI vs. Pittsburgh Michael Lewis had been stealing his thunder, but Dawkins has been coming on strong of late. Play him this week.
DB Jerry Azumah CHI vs. New York Giants I had Azumah on the list a couple of weeks ago. He’s starting a little slow, but this guy is a playmaker. Definitely play him if your league rewards kick returns.
