Waiver Wire Candidates – Week 8

There is nothing scarier than being short a RB or QB at this time of year.  Most of the “Sleepers” have emerged and picking up a free agent is reduced to taking backups who have had the starting job fall into their lap.    Still, there seems to be a couple worth considering on a weak squad.

Chris Chandler CHI – No, he will not save your team. He might not even start more than one week. But, If you were desperate for a QB this week (say you had Gannon and Ramsey), then he might be your man. He IS playing against Detroit this week. (Nick- Yes, I am talking to you and your team.)

Marques Tuiasosopo OAK- Pretty decent job filling in when Gannon got hurt, not sure if he will be starting after this week’s bye. Gannon owners need him on their bench.

Danny Kanell DEN – Oh Danny Boy…… Please tell me your fantasy team is not this bad that he could help you out. When was the last time he started or played for that matter?

Jerome Bettis PIT- Probably not available, but he is getting the start this week.

Domanick Davis, HOU – Doesn’t get the TDs (Mack does) but has run and caught the ball effectively the past 2 weeks.

Arlen Harris STL – Another back goes down in STL, another chance for another back to step into the starting role, at least that is how it appears now. Isn’t that the name of the town that King of the Hill takes place in?

Trung Candidate WAS- Betts is out, so he must get more touches, right?  Or is Chad Morton going to get the ball Does Chad know how to line up with the offense or no?

Chester Taylor/Musa Smith BAL – One or both of them could see action with Lewis’ shoulder sprain (second time this year). Maybe not.

Brian Westbrook PHI – Slowly, surely, he has worked his way into the main RB spot.

Steve Smith CAR – Probably not around, but the Saints figure on shutting down Muhammed this week, so someone will get the catches.

Drew Bennett TEN – Another solid week for the big lanky guy.

Travis Taylor BAL – If you really need help, then this deep threat could be for you. Just wish the offense was more consistent.

Erron Kinney TEN – Seems to be getting comfortable in that starting role in TEN.

Morten Anderson KCC – Seems to still be able to get the job done.

Chicago – Maybe? I got nothing here, but could match up well against Detroit.

Jets NYJ – They are playing PHI this week. Could PHI break out of their offensive slump? The signs say No.
