Our top category returns this week as we see a wide receiver out on most waiver wires that has returned from a strange injury to make an immediate fantasy impact. Beyond that, several more wide receivers are joined by a handful of running backs, and single players at the quarterback and tight end position.
We have a short week, so be active early and often. The season rolls on so don’t miss out on improving your team! Something for everyone this week!
WR Nate Burleson, Detroit
We had Burleson ‘On the Radar’ last week as we expected that he would be right back in the starting lineup for the Lions. Still available in most leagues, he delivered a performance of seven catches for 77 yards and a touchdown against Tampa Bay. More importantly, he was on the field for nearly 100% of the plays, showing no signs of having been on the sideline for several weeks. He assumes the top spot in our list of players to grab off the waiver wire, and assuming he is able to keep his pizza and driving separate, he will continue to have this kind of fantasy impact.
QB Matt Flynn, Green Bay
The Packers did not take long to turn to their old friend to get the offense going again. In relief of Scott Tolzien, Flynn threw for 218 yards and a touchdown as the Packers and Vikings battled to a rare tie. With the short week, look for the Packers to turn to Flynn as the starter in a favorable matchup against the Lions on Turkey Day.
RB Dennis Johnson Houston
As the Texans’ season continues to spiral down the drain, one of the few bright spots this past week was the play of Johnson against the Jaguars. Whether or not Ben Tate is still hurt or just hurting, Johnson badly outplayed him as he racked up 87 yards in total offense. Johnson has earned some touches going forward, and even in a timesharing situation he is worth a look this week as the Texans take on a Patriots team that was gashed for 280 yards by the Broncos this past week.
WR Mohamed Sanu, Cincinnati
Coming out of the bye week, we like the matchups the Bengals have in the next several weeks as they take on the likes of the Chargers, Colts, and Steelers. The Bengals prolific offense means that there will be more yards to go around, expect Sanu to jump to the forefront as the starter opposite A.J. Green. This is a speculative add, as Sanu’s numbers to this point have not been great, but some extra work in the bye week will pay dividends versus the soft defenses on the Cincinnati schedule.
