Home / Commentary / WAIVER WIRE WONDERS: Week 6

Our top category makes a return this week as we have a couple of wide receivers that have performed well enough to be picked up and started right away. There are several solid running backs to consider, and beyond that we fill things out with the usual array of players on the radar and for deep consideration. Something for everyone this week!

Smokin’ Hot

WR Cameron Meredith, Chicago

With starter Kevin White out for an extended period of time, Meredith got the start opposite Alshon Jeffery and he was excellent. He was the leading wideout for the Bears, ending up with nine catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. As Jeffery continues to play at less than 100%, Meredith will be relied upon early and often as the top option in the Bears offense. He is worth picking up and can be used right away as a fantasy starter.

WR Jeremy Kerley, San Francisco

We had Kerley on the radar last week, and this week is part of the reason that our top category makes a triumphant return. He backed up a six-catch, 88-yard performance two weeks ago by grabbing eight throws for 102 yards. In both games, he has found the end zone as he has quickly become one of the top fantasy wideouts. Still owned in less than half the online leagues, this may be the last opportunity to grab Kerley off the waiver wire.

Solid Pickups

RB Jacquizz Rodgers, Tampa Bay

With no one healthy to turn to, the Bucs gave Rodgers the start on Monday night and he carried Tampa Bay to victory over Carolina. As if carrying the ball 30 times for 101 yards on the ground was not enough, he chipped in five catches for another 28 yards in the air. We would have Rodgers ranked higher, but the Bucs are on a bye next week, giving Doug Martin another week to get back onto the field. Rodgers is worth a grab and hold as he is likely to continue to be active in the passing game when Martin returns.

RB Jalen Richard, Oakland

The Raiders are working through a two-headed monster with Latavius Murray on the shelf, with Richard and DeAndre Washington each getting time. Richard looked much better this week against the Chargers, totaling 97 yards in total offense spread across eight carries and six catches. This is a situation that is still developing, while it works itself out, Richard is worth an add based on him being the better option in Oakland right now.

RB C.J. Spiller, Seattle

We had Spiller listed here last week, and with the Seahawks on bye, he is still available in over half the online leagues. Spiller will be the pass-catching option out of the backfield, making him a valuable add off waivers.
