Earlier this week it was reported that the son of a millionaire hotel executive won $107 million in the lottery. He has elected to take the $68.4 million one time payout and has already bought a BMW and is planning a golf trip to Ireland. He also mentioned that he has donated $50,000 to charity, which is .000731% of his winnings. So, I wondered how much would the average family with an income of $50,000 need to donate in order to be as generous a millionaire. Well, chances are you’ve already exceeded the $36.55 needed to be as generous as a millionaire.
Keep an eye on Cleveland running back Montario Hardesty. I don’t care how impressive Peyton Hillis is, if Hardesty is healthy he’s going to steal carries from Hillis. Hillis owners should already have Hardesty on their roster.
I wonder if it wouldn’t have been better fot the Colts to put Peyton Manning on IR and let Curtis Painter take all 16 starts at quarterback in 2011? They would have had a serious shot at winning the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Of course, they still might. With a serious neck injury and a $28 million option bonus due at the start of the 2012 season the addition of Luck would have made the cutting of Manning a foregone conclusion.
Every year dynasty leaguers have a tough choice. Do you draft talent or opportunity? Those who jumped on the Daniel Thomas bandwagon will have to reassess their draft strategy.
Due to a hand injury early in training camp, Raiders’ wide receiver Jacoby Ford has been flying under the radar. He’s the #1 wide receiver in Oakland and should reach 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns.
If you play in an IDP league you may want to add Giants middle linebacker Greg Jones. Jones will get the start this week due to a plethora of injuries and just might be able to hang on to the job.
What an up-and-down 2011 it’s been for Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno. Earlier this year the rumors about DeAngelo Williams landing in Denver depressed Moreno’s value. Then when Williams resigned with the Panthers Moreno shot-up draft boards and now Broncos’ offensive coordinator Mike McCoy has stated that the Broncos will use an even timeshare between Knowshon Moreno and Willis McGahee, riding the hot hand should one emerge.
I waited until the later part of my drafts to take a tight end and was able to come up with Rams tight end Lance Kendricks on several of my teams. I will be starting Kendricks on all of those teams. If you got ’em, play’em.
If you’re in need of a tight end today you may want to see if the Broncos’ Julius Thomas or the Browns’ Evan Moore is available. Both have had a great preseason and make for very good last minute fill-ins.
Thanks for reading and have a great week.
