Week 14

Player Notes, Rumors and Quotes:

Roy Williams (DET) left last Sunday’s game with a sprained knee and on Monday Coach Rod Marinelli said that he’s likely to miss several weeks. This means Calvin Johnson and Mike Furrey (one week after being demoted on the depth chart) are now the starters with Shaun McDonald coming “off the bench” although the Lions usually run three receiver sets most of the time. – On Monday, Coach Ken Whisenhunt avoided any official word on Anquan Boldin’s (ARI) status after Boldin had to leave last Sunday’s game with a foot injury. Boldin was seen in a walking boot on Monday and did not practice on Wednesday. – Sinorice Moss (NYG) was the third receiver last Sunday, but was benched in favor of David Tyree after he ran a bad route. – Javon Walker (DEN) only played between 20-25 snaps last Sunday and on Monday Coach Mike Shanahan said that “it’s hard to say” whether Walker would be able to take on a full workload at any point this season. Walker did practice fully on Wednesday. – While Terry Glenn (DAL) has yet to see the field this season, owner Jerry Jones said on Monday that he has “a real shot” to see game action at some point. – Coach Mike Nolan said on Tuesday that Arnaz Battle (SF) is questionable to play this week. – Coach Mike Tomlin indicated on Tuesday that Santonio Holmes (PIT) could return this week. – Coach Eric Mangini has yet to rule Jerricho Cotchery (NYJ) out for the rest of the season after Cotchery had finger surgery last week. – Laveranues Coles (NYJ) was a game time decision last Sunday because of an ankle injury, but ended up playing and afterward said that it was the most pain that he’s ever played through. Coles was reported to be very limited in practice on Wednesday and he may be in even worse shape than before. – On Wednesday Coach Mike Holmgren said that DJ Hackett (SEA) is healing quicker than expected. – At practice on Wednesday, Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) reportedly “didn’t do much” but he said he’s much better.
