The Golden Mug Award
Awarded to the fantasy player who came through for their team.
Calvin Johnson – 9 receptions, 214 yards, 2 TDs. After a very disappointing Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings, Johnson exploded for an insane amount of yards. It’s great when your best player shows up during the playoffs.
C.J. Spiller – 12 carries, 91 yards, 1 TD; 9 receptions, 76 yards, 1 TD. Spiller almost matched the number of fantasy points (39) in one game to the total fantasy points he put up the previous three weeks (42). Tough matchup this week though against the Demver Broncos.
Drew Brees – 32-for-40, 412 yards, 5 TD. Brees has been a stud this season, and even though everyone is looking at Aaron Rodgers as the league MVP, I think Brees is the best player to have during the playoffs this year. He set an NFL record of 11 games this season with 300-plus yards. Let’s hope that the Saints need Week 17 against the Carolina Panthers for home field advantage so that he won’t sit out the last game.
The Urinal Cake Award
Awarded to the fantasy player who you would like to, well, you know.
Jordy Nelson – 2 receptions, 29 yards. With Greg Jennings going down, many expected Nelson to get an increase in targets and a big fantasy day. Nelson was targeted just four times during the game.
Eli Manning – 23-for-40, 257 yards, 3 INT. This is the kind of game that keeps Manning from being a top tier fantasy quarterback. Manning was the fourth-best quarterback in fantasy leagues from Weeks 12-14.
Mike Williams (Tampa Bay) – 0 catches, 0 targets. Williams looked to be back on track until last week when he was held to just 35 yards against the Dallas Cowboys and then by laying a big fat goose egg this week.
