Although Week 15 was packed with amazing performances from many key fantasy studs, Baltimore kicker Justin Tucker has topped the headlines. His six field goals, including a 61-yard go-ahead blast in the fourth quarter, sealed the late comeback victory for Baltimore, and more importantly, kept their playoff hopes alive. In his postgame interview, his reference to helping both his “real team” and his fantasy football team win made the event even more memorable for fantasy football fans.
Whether you are in a battle for the fantasy Super Bowl this week or just trying to close the season on a positive note, take a dive with me as we look into Week 16.
Andy Dalton has been very frustrating this year for fantasy owners. As soon as it appears that Dalton has reached the next level as he showed from Weeks 6-8, he posted a complete dud in Week 9. With Cincinnati battling for playoff seeding, he should be productive in Week 16 against Minnesota. Minnesota has allowed the second-most points to opposing quarterbacks, including three passing touchdowns in each of the last two weeks. Cincinnati’s quarterback also has performed considerably better at home with a quarterback rating almost 20 points higher than on the road this season.
Week 16 forecast: 250 passing yards, 2 TD
Not much has worked for the Oakland Raiders this year. However, their rushing attack has been one of the few bright spots. As usual, Darren McFadden has missed more games than he has started, but
Rashad Jennings and Marcel Reece have filled in admirably. Jennings returned from his own injury and was dynamic against a tough Kansas City line. Jennings ran for 91 yards with two scores and averaged 4.0 yards per carry. Jennings will shine again in Week 16 against an average San Diego defense and should receive the bulk of carries.
Week 16 forecast: 100 total yards, TD
Mike Wallace may be the more talented Miami wide receiver, but also lacks consistency. If you are looking to fill your second or third wide receiver slot, don’t forget about
Brian Hartline. Hartline has averaged 9.5 targets with at least five catches per game over his last six contests. With a matchup against the Buffalo defense that allows the fourth-most points to opposing wide receivers, Hartline should reward fantasy owners this weekend. Don’t forget that he hauled in six passes earlier this year against Buffalo’s weak secondary.
Week 16 forecast: 80 receiving yards, TD
The Arizona defense continues to play well this season, but consistently struggles against opposing tight ends. In fact, the Cardinals have allowed seven touchdowns to tight ends over the last six games and surrender the most points to the position. Seattle tight end
Zach Miller has been quiet over the last two games, but will be welcoming Arizona to CenturyLink Field where he has averaged almost 50 yards per game. If you are desperate at tight end, consider Miller based on this great matchup.
Week 16 forecast: 50 receiving yards, TD
After a heartbreaking defeat at home on Monday Night Football, the
Detroit Lions must win to stay in playoff contention. Fortunately, they will welcome the dreadful New York Giants offense to Motown. After seeming to “turn the corner,” the Giants have looked awful over the last two games where they have allowed six sacks, while Eli Manning has thrown seven interceptions. Detroit should pressure Manning the entire game and be a strong start in Week 15.
