Week 5 – The Morning After

Al Davis, you cheap/paranoid madman, we love ya. So, Lane Kiffin was fired because you couldn’t put up with his ‘propaganda’ any longer. You hired the youngest coach in modern NFL history and expected him to turn a terrible team around in one year? Surely, you jest. I actually think this whole situation was just a result of Al not having his hearing aid in during conversations with Kiffin.

Here are some excerpts that I was able to obtain of Kiffin’s interview with Al Davis …

Kiffin said, “I’m going to emphasize determination and hustle!”

heard, “Get me JaMarcus Russell!”

Kiffin said, “I’m not much of a talker.”

heard, “Throw big bucks at Javon Walker.”

Kiffin was tied with Brad Childress as the lowest paid head coach in the NFL at $1.25 million.

With Kiffin now gone here is the current list of coaches on the hot seat courtesy of

Tank Johnson, who called Rock Cartwright classless, had to be restrained as Cartwright stood on the 50-yard line star at Texas Stadium on September 27th as he celebrated

Washington‘s 26-24 victory over the Cowboys. Hey, Tank, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

LT aggravated his turf toe injury when a Miami Dolphins defender stepped on the toe and twisted it into the ground. Even though I don’t have LT on any of my teams, I’m going to help out the Chargers organization and all the fantasy owners who spent the #1 pick on LT. I’ve done some internet research and discovered the amazing steel toe shoe.

This is the Men’s Timberland Steel Toe Work Shoe and retails for $99.99. Here are some of the specs on this amazing shoe.

  • ANSI I75 & C75 Approved

  • Premium Leather and Mesh for Durability and Breathability

  • Open-Cell Polyurethane Footbed with Agion Anti-Microbial Cover for Durable, Resilient Cushioning

  • Internal Nylon Shank for Additional Support

  • Compression Molded EVA Midsole for Lightweight Cushioning

  • Slip and Oil Resistant

Now, you think the Chargers would forward a little gratuity Jimmy B’s way?

Broncos RB Selvin Young suffered a groin injury and word is that Michael Pittman’s role may increase. Ryan Torain is due to return in a few weeks; I recommend that you stash him now.

Kyle Orton has thrown two, three and two touchdowns his last three games. I’m just letting you know that you won’t be laughed at should you decide to pick him up.

Supposedly, Dan Orlovsky entered the game due to Jon Kitna suffering from back spasms. Those weren’t back spasms, that was me sticking pins into my Jon Kitna doll as I had started Calvin Johnson in a weekly money league. Brian Griese throws for 427 yards and two touchdowns against the Bears in

Chicago and he was throwing to Antonio Bryant and Ike Hilliard. I expect Drew Stanton to get a chance sometime in the next 2-3 weeks.

Anybody looking for Larry Johnson, I found him, two carries for seven yards.

Johnson – what a moron. He now has 14 catches on the season. I would actively shop him.

Ronnie Brown had 125 yards and one touchdown on 25 carries. He slipped way too far in too many drafts. Meanwhile, Ricky Williams had 39 yards on 13 carries. I just wanted to let you guys know that even though I didn’t write a column last week I wasn’t tempted to fire up the peace pipe. But, I was tempted and did give in to a couple of double cheeseburgers.

I would look to shop Brandon Jacobs coming off his 136-yard, two touchdown performance. I’m not comfortable with the RBBC that the Giants are using and given that Jacobs did his damage on only 15 carries, I don’t think he’ll get these kind of results every week (duh, you think?), who said that?

That’s all I have right now, but I promise that I’ll be back later in the week.
