I don’t think I’ve ever seen two more dominating performances by a runningback while playing for the same team. Priest Holmes and Derrick Blaylock combined for 229 YDs rushing, 8 TDs and 3 catches for 87 YDs. Combined they scored 77 fantasy points. Unfortunately, unless you had real RB problems this past week, Blaylock was sitting on most fantasy owners benches. Priest did tweak his ankle in the 3rd quarter so you would be advised to pick up Blaylock if he is still available as a handcuff.
Ahman Green appears to be back, rushing for 163 YDs and scoring 2 TDs. Deuce McAllister rushed for only 42 YDs but scored twice as well.
Although Reuben Droughns didn’t have a chart topping statistical performance this week, owners that picked him up should be happy as it looks like Quentin Griffin will be placed on IR and be lost for the season.
One other interesting statistical note for the 2nd time this year, San Diego backup Jesse Chatman out rushed Ladainian Tomlinson by 22 YDs. Each had a touchdown but you have to wonder how hurt Tomlinson really is.
This week with 63% of the vote, you eliminated Domanick Davis from the competition. He has been a disappointment all season and survived 2 other weeks of voting.
Now onto the nominees for this week’s Ultimate Fantasy voting.
Current contestant list:
Shaun Alexander Tiki Barber Kevan Barlow
Domanick Davis Stephen Davis Corey Dillon
Marshall Faulk Ahman Green Travis Henry
Priest Holmes Edgerrin James Rudi Johnson
Jamal Lewis Deuce McAllister Clinton Portis
Fred Taylor Ladainian Tomlinson Brian Westbrook
Each week we’ll take the 2 lowest fantasy producers based on the Fantasy Sharks scoring system and put them up for an elimination vote.
This week we’ll have 3 players available for your vote. Jamal Lewis will get added to the mix since his team played this week but he was suspended by the NFL for his conviction of drug charges.
Brian Westbrook got hurt in the Eagles win over the Browns. He took a shot to the chest when TE LJ Smith missed a block and didn’t return to the game. He rushed 13 times for 43 YDs and 5 fantasy points.
Shaun Alexander is also up for nomination. He carried the ball 12 times for 57 YDs and 5 fantasy points. The Seahawks lost their 3rd straight game and appear to be in a freefall after being an early season favorite to win the NFC. It is not over for the Hawks, but they need to get things turned around in a hurry. Jerry Rice is not the answer.
So you have 3 runningbacks to choose from this week. Who will get your vote?
