Week Ten in Review

Special thanks to all of the brave men and women in our armed forces all over the world on this Veteran’s Day weekend.  Thanks to those that have served in the past, present, and future.  Our thoughts go out to the families of these folks that make our way of life possible.

Abbreviated version this week, we’ll be back to our normal amount of mindless drivel next week.

at Philadelphia 27, Washington 3
Donte Stallworth (139 yards, TD) and Brian Westbrook (113 yards) were the fantasy stars for the Eagles as they tame the Redskins in coasting to the win.  Clinton Portis broke his hand early in this game and is expected to miss at least 3-4 weeks of action, if not more.

Chicago 38, at New York Giants 20
The Bears pull away from the Giants in the second half, thanks to a 108 yard field goal attempt that was returned for a touchdown.  Devin Hester took a long Jay Feely kick eight yards deep in the endzone, and after surveying the situation for a second, ran the ball out and 108 yards to pay dirt to start the fourth quarter.  Thomas Jones (113 yards, TD), Muhsin Muhammed (123 yards, TD), and Rex Grossman (246 yards, 3 TD) did well for the victors while Tiki Barber (141 yards) the lone Giant to get a mention here.  Barber sprained a thumb in the matchup, an injury worth keeping an eye on.

San Diego 49, at Cincinnati 41
A fantasy dream!  The Bengals took a 21 point first half lead, only to watch as the Chargers put up 42 second half points to take the win.  Co-player of the week LaDainian Tomlinson (158 total yards, 4 TD) was the key, but Philip Rivers (337 yards, 3 TD) and Malcomb Floyd (109 yards, TD) also chipped in for the winners.  Co-player of the week Chad Johnson (260 yards, 2 TD) finally had a nice break out game and Carson Palmer (440 yards, 3 TD) also performed week in defeat.

Baltimore 27, at Tennessee 26
Steve McNair (373 yards, 3 TD, 2 int) made a triumphant return to Tenessee as the Ravens escape with a close win.  Mark Clayton (125 yards, TD) also gets a mention here in a winning effort while Travis Henry (107 yards, TD) and Vince Young (211 yards, TD, int) preformed well for the defeated.

at Pittsburgh 38, New Orleans 31
Willie Parker (213 yards, 2 TD) ran wild and Ben Roethlisberger (264 yards, 3 TD) put in a solid performance as the Steelers get back on the winning track in a high scoring affair.  Drew Brees (398 yards, TD), Marques Colston (169 yards), Reggie Bush (89 yards, TD), Duece McAllister (60 yards, 2 TD), and Terrance Copper (92 yards, TD) did well but it was not enough to snatch victory from the hands of defeat.

San Francisco 19, at Detroit 13
Frank Gore (159 yards, TD) and Kevin Jones (115 total yards) the lone bright spots in this dreary matchup won by the Niners.

at Indianapolis 17, Buffalo 16
The Colts once again escape, keeping their unblemished record intact as Joseph Addai (124 total yards, TD)  the only fantasy entity from either team to get a mention in this space.

Green Bay 23, at Minnesota 17
Donald Driver (191 yards, TD) and Brett Favre (347 yards, 2 TD) helped keep the Vikings down as the Packers take the nice road win.

New York Jets 17, at New England 14
On a cold and rain soaked day in New England, the Jets come to town and hold the Patriots offense at bay, holding on for the close win.  Reche Caldwell (90 yards, TD) and Tom Brady (255 yards, TD, int) the only players from either side to get a mention here this week.

Cleveland 17, at Atlanta 13
Another road team upends the favorite as the Browns take a win at Atlanta.  Michael Vick (197 yards, TD, 2 int, 74 rushing yards) the only fantasy entity worthy of a mention from either side in this low scoring affair.

Houston 13, at Jacksonville 10
Zzzzz.  Nothing to see here, let’s move on.

at Miami 13, Kansas City 10
Score only.  In the game, Tony Gonzalez sprained a shoulder and may miss a couple weeks of action.  .

Denver 17, at Oakland 13
Another score only as Denver once again does just enough to win.  Special thanks to Mike Shanahan for not dressing a healthy Mike Bell for this game in favor of Damien Nash.

at Seattle 24, St.Louis 22
The Seahawks claw out a win despite no individual Seattle player getting a mention here.  Steven Jackson (93 yards, TD) performed well in a losing effort.

Dallas 27, at Arizona 10
Finally this week, Dallas keeps the good times rolling and the bad times rolling for the Cardinals.  Tony Romo (308 yards, 2 TD) and Patrick Crayton (104 yards, TD) the lone fantasy entities to get a mention here, but against the lowly Cards it was more than enough.
